Pat Scarlett “You Make It Alright”

Pat Scarlett’s “You Make It Alright” is a track that ties together 1980s performers like Suzanne Vega and Siouxsie and the Banshees. A thick bass line and sequenced drum line build the environment for You Make It Alright, upon which a smokier set of vocals reside. A bit of industrial / goth fuzz-laden guitars and drums wash over the track at points, boosting the overall momentum before Pat moves back into the meat of the single. You Make It Alright benefits from a strong use of chiaroscuro; there are dark and light elements to this cut. I feel that this not only makes for a unique track, but one that continues to keep listeners interested from beginning to end.
