It seems that the market for extreme sports cars, as with a number of other luxury items, is rather resilient to the usual market pressures. The market is in fact thriving, and for extreme sports enthusiasts there has never been a bigger, or more affordable selection of vehicles to choose from. Picking a favorite out of the many fine offerings available is no easy task, even for those of us whose love for extreme sports has reached the level of outright adoration.

Companies such as Ferrari and Lamborghini meld together the world of luxury and extreme sports cars in order to offer some of the most versatile and jaw-droppingly gorgeous vehicles around, but there are many more manufacturers competing for attention, some of whom cater exclusively to extreme sports enthusiasts.

For this article we have dived into the extreme sports world, scoured the internet for the most reputable sources, and compiled a list of three extreme sports cars which stand out amongst the competition. These cars don’t come cheap, unless you’re a millionaire, then these are more likely to be curiosities above all else, however, we feel that these cars represent the very best that the market has to offer.

Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini describe this car as being “the most uncompromising” sports car that the company has ever produced. Given the company’s reputation in the field, that is quite a bold claim, but it is one that it is justified. This carbon fiber supercar is powered by a mighty 700-bhp 6.5 liter V-12 engine, and a 7-speed ISR transmission. What are notably absent from the Aventador J is a roof and air conditioning system, oh and it has virtually no windshield!

Ferrari F12berlinetta

The F12berlinetta replaces the much loved 599 GTB Fiorano; while saying goodbye to that car is a little sad, this is a more than adequate replacement. It is the perfect blend of elegance and ferocity, truly an extreme sports car to fall head over heels in love with. It is the embodiment of everything that is sublime and wonderful in Italian car design and manages to pack everything into a space a little bit smaller than its predecessor.

Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG

The SL63 AMG is Mercedes doing what they do best. This car is lightweight and extremely agile, easily clocking up 60 mph in 4 seconds. The handling is exceptional, the car roars along straight roads and easily glides around corners. Its aluminum chassis reduces the weight of the car while leaving it with a strong and sturdy skeleton. Its twin turbo V-8 engine offers a whopping 530 bhp, but also comes in 557 bhp and 664 bhp configurations.

Any of the cars on this list make an excellent choice for extreme sports enthusiasts. Each one offers considerable performance and some of the finest design work that we have seen in a car produced in recent times. All three of these companies have excellent reputations, which they fully deserve, for producing some of the most iconic and memorable cars in the world.
