Everyone loves summer. Even if you’re past school age, and summer doesn’t mean “break,” you can still enjoy the warm weather, vacation opportunities, and more. This summer, you should make the most of your time, and try new experiences. It isn’t every season that you get to go swimming or jump around on a trampoline for kids in your own backyard. If you’re looking for some summer adventures, you’ve come to the right place. Each one of these suggestions will help you expand your horizons this summer, and enjoy the pleasure of trying something new.

Road Tripping

Summer is the perfect chance to get out and see the world. You might not have a huge budget for vacations, but you can still have fun on a road trip. Some people love setting aside four or five days, getting in their car, and picking a direction. Along the highway, you’ll see signs for attractions, historic sights, and national parks. You can stop wherever you fancy, and find new accomodations every night in motels or campgrounds. You can have experiences in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Louisville, Kentucky, or Portland, Oregon. Wherever you end up, you’ll remember your adventures forever.

Vaping

If you have friends who enjoy vaping, you might become tempted to try it. While you might not be a fan of nicotine addictions, you can try vaping without any addictive ingredients. Jam monster ejuice comes in a large variety of flavors. Whether you love cotton candy, chocolate chip, or peach green tea ejuice, you’re sure to find something you enjoy. You might decide that vaping isn’t right for you in the end, but it’s a quirky, fun experience to try.

Cooking

Not everyone can cook. You, on the other hand, should know how. Learning to cook is easy, especially with YouTube tutorials ready and waiting. Food cooked from scratch often tastes better, and it is often healthier, too. You can start with something fun and easy, like homemade pizza. Bake the dough at 525 degrees, then cook the toppings at the same heat setting. Or, try your hand at homemade macaroni and cheese. If you find you have a passion for cooking, you can move onto complex, amazing dishes, like paneer curries or spanakopita.

Swimming

If you live near any body of water, you should go swimming this summer. It’s amazing that humans can swim, float, and explore underwater worlds, and you should take advantage of the experience. You can go snorkeling, take surfing lessons in Waikiki, HI, or go paddleboarding. The water offers a host of fun opportunities, and summer heat isn’t the same if you don’t use it to enjoy a lake, river, or ocean.

Hiking

There’s a big, wide world to see. Even if you don’t take a plane to India or Southern China, there’s still a great deal of great hiking you can do in your hometown. Certain destinations in the US are worth a long car ride, just for the pleasure of the hike. If you live near the Rocky Mountains, you could spend entire days this summer just hiking and enjoying the views. Rocky Mountain posters help you remember the view, and remind you of the experiences you have to anticipate for next summer.

Gardening

You may have grown up gardening, or perhaps you never gardened before in your life. Even if you’re convinced you have a “black thumb,” you could still have success with a simple outdoor garden. As long as you can keep away the deer and bunnies, you could grow easy plants like chives, lettuce, tomatoes, or sunflowers. If your first garden isn’t perfect, you may find that working with soil or watching things grow is its own form of therapy. People who love to garden seldom go back, so you should try it out this summer.

Meditating

If you wish you were less stressed, or lived more in the present, meditation helps with both. While you might not be the meditating “type,” meditating proves good for your health, and it helps lower your stress. Meditation is as simple as closing your eyes and focusing on your breathing for two minutes a day. Simple exercises like these help reduce your worrying and help you feel better.

Crafting

If you’re not into crafts, you might find that you enjoy them. If you’re a guy, you might think that doing crafts makes you less manly. If you’re a girl, you might fear that crafts will turn you into a little old lady. Crafts don’t have to be dorky, embarrassing, or outdated, though. Quilting is as manly as you want it to be. Certain materials can help you make jaw-dropping, chic jewelry. If you feel like you don’t create enough, starting a craft project or two this summer can help you branch out into more creative outlets.

Theater

While we hope you support some local theaters this summer, we mean get involved in theater. Take some classes, audition for a community theater, or get involved in a theatrical production as a stagehand. Theater is a great way to meet new people and become involved in a powerful project. There’s a reason people come together over art, and getting involved with a local theater group could be the highlight of your summer.

Writing

Last but not least, you could fill your summer with a writing project. Many people enjoy writing; almost 80% of people say they dream of publishing a book someday. While your summer project won’t be shelf-ready unless you put in grueling hours, you might find that creating a world, writing about your own life, or putting a spin on a story you love is the perfect way to spend your summer afternoons. Writing can help you keep that creative side of your brain open.
