What Is the Science Behind NAD+

Basis is a daily supplement created by Elysium Health to support cellular health. Basis is made up of two ingredients, pterostilbene and nicotinamide riboside. The combination of these two compounds  is proven to increase and sustain levels of NAD+ in our cells. NAD+ is a coenzyme that is essential to creation of energy, protection of DNA, and regulation of circadian rhythms, as well as hundreds of other cellular functions. Our levels of NAD+ decline as we age, and those processes can stop functioning.

How Basis Was Studied

To make sure that Basis works as advertised, Elysium Health put the supplement through a clinical trial in 2016. During the trial,120 subjects were divided into three even groups. Group one received the recommended daily dose of Basis, group two double the recommended dose, while group three received a placebo. The results of the study, which were published in the online science journal npj: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease, demonstrated that the daily recommended dose of Basis increases and sustains NAD+ levels in humans by an average of 40 percent.

A regular month-to-month subscription costs $50 each month. The most popular plan is the six-month subscription to Basis for $270, which breaks down to $45 per month. A one-year subscription plan is $480, or $40 per month.
