We’re expecting the latest arrival in the royal family any day now, and as royal tradition dictates, the British public are not allowed to know the sex of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby. There have been rumours that the couple are expecting a girl, which explains why that is the favourite in royal specials betting.

The new-born will be the eighth great grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, so they will have some competition if they want to become the Queen’s favourite great-grandchild. In particular, there will be competition from his cousins: George, Charlotte and Louis, but who are they?

Prince George of Cambridge

The first child of future king, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and queen consort Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George is third in line to the throne. When the couple announced they were pregnant with their first child back in December 2012, much excitement was caused amongst the population.

Our future king was born on 22nd July 2013 and has gone on to become something of an icon in Britain, despite only just starting his life. He’s already been on several royal tours, including a trip to New Zealand and Australia, in which the BBC described him as “the star of the show”, despite only making two public appearances during the tour.

His parents want him to grow up with as much privacy as possible, which is hardly surprising given he is the future king. That hasn’t stopped people obsessing over him whenever he has made a public appearance.

Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

The second child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their first daughter, Princess Charlotte was born on 2nd May 2015 and the young princess has already made history. When the Perth Agreement was implemented in 2011, it meant that younger male siblings no longer overtake their older female siblings in the line of succession of the British throne.

In days gone by, her younger brother Louis would have moved to fourth in line to the throne by virtue of being a male, but this is no longer the case.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge , much like her older brother George, does not make many public appearances, but when she does, the media goes into a frenzy.

Prince Louis of Cambridge

The most recent addition to the Duke and Duchess’ family arrived last year and Prince Louis of Cambridge was born on 23rd April 2018. The second son of the couple has been seen in public even less frequently than his older siblings, but we’re sure as he gets older, the media will cover every last appearance.

Louis Arthur Charles is fifth in line to the throne and his names were in honour of his paternal great-great-great uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten, and his paternal grandfather, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, who is first in line to the throne.

It’ll be interesting to find out what the sex of the baby is, as well as what name Harry and Meghan will call him or her. The Queen will be the first one to find out and will no doubt be delighted to welcome another addition to the royal family.
