David Alpha has released a four-song EP that immediately catches listeners’ attentions. With insistent guitars and a furious, chugging bass line, fans will immediately be buffeted with some intense rock. Light the Rockets/Hungry Ghost is the first outing here and it will showcase the nuanced and detailed style of David Alpha perfectly. One will be impressed with the depth that Alpha gets into with this introductory track. The replay value of this EP is high since each track contains so many distinct twists and turns. Our recommendation here would be to strap a pair of headphones and focus in to each instrumental; and vocal dynamic that issues forth; there are some seriously heady things to find here. With ample ability to shift through tempos and musical styles, David Alpha is able to draw upon rock, punk, metal, and emotive approaches for the greatest impact.

Universalon is an effort that draws upon the straight-forward rock sound of the MC5 and the charisma of acts like the B-52s. It is during this effort that Alpha’s vocals truly shine. Sitting above the track, they will keep fans on the edges of their seats like no other.

Wake Up Gloria blends together an impassioned guitar line and the narrative heaviness of Alpha. Keeping things fresh from the beginning until the song’s final note, David Alpha is in pretty good straits by the time that Chameleon Wheelhouse begins to wind down. Me or Him, the release’s final track, draws upon funk, psychedelic, and a bit of desert rock for influence. It is during this song where fans will be best shown the technical effort of DA. With nods to The Tea Party and Jane’s Addiction during this track, David Alpha is able to inject himself into the corpus of rock music.
