During Nobody’s Comin’, Dennis J. Leise is able to flip the traditional gospel sound to make a scathing critique of all the charlatans and slimeballs that wrap themselves up in the vestments of the holy and the honorable. Taking the first minute (or so) of Nobody’s Comin’ to gradually set things into motion, Leise immediately draws in listeners. Adopting the leit-motif of traditional religious music, Dennis crafts something special here. Aside from pulling the veil from those that may not be “woke”, Leise is able to put forth some of the most infectious music this side of the church scene in the Blues Brothers.
