Apiary – Lost In Focus (CD)

Apiary is a current metal band. They do not play the style of music that is called progressive metal, but something that navigates between nu-rock, thrash, noise, and sludge to come up with something that is angular while being blunt, and mercilessly hard while still being nuanced. “Pain Is The Reason” is the first bullet in the air from Apiary, and while the band only lasts about three minutes in…

Gang Starr fans and followers of Hip-Hop already know the name Krumb Snatcha. From his “Snatcha Season Pt.1” EP with songs like “Hip Hop” and the industry critique “Gangsta Disease,” to his duet with M.O.P. on the Oscar award winning movie “Training Day” soundtrack only served to solidify his position, setting the stage for his first full length album “Respect All Fear None” on D&D Records in 2002. Yet, Krumb’s…

Jackdawg – S/T (CD)

It is really surprising that the Jackdawg disc remained unreleased for such a long period of time. This is due to the fact that the members of Jackdawg were some of the members of the best known rock bands of the last fifty years. The members of the act are linked to acts as diverse as CCR, Van Morrison, and even Eikichi Yazawa. With a set of recordings that get…

The Love Boat Season Two Volume One (DVD Set)

This DVD set captured the first half of the second season, which ran through 1978. It also provides the perfect marathon fodder, as taken all together the episodes will keep individuals busy for nearly 12 hours (11 hours, 52 minutes if you want specificity). NeuFutur Magazine Breaks Out Hooray For Earth!

People have a history of getting hung up on labels. Mention the band Hooray For Earth to folks and they hit you with the question that everyone loves to ask and everyone else hates to answer–“what do they sound like?” Telling people that listening to Hooray For Earth feels like being dragged down a flight of stairs while being sung a lullaby never seems to satisfy them. Another critic once…

Max Payne Unrated (Blu-Ray)

Fox is one of the few companies that is currently producing Blu-Ray discs that really know how to push the disc to its limits. Take for example, the recently-released unrated version of Max Payne. Aside from having both the theatrical and unrated versions of the films present, Fox has filled this Blu-Ray release to the brim with additional features. This two-disc special edition is the end-all, be-all for anyone that…

Apell – Beaver Street & Beyond (CD)

Electronically charged jazz, Anthony Pell (Apell to eir’s fans) provides listeners with a rich instrumental backdrop, creating the best experience one can have listening to music. This is not necessarily the music that gets the body moving, but is rather like an illicit drug, opening one’s mind to a myriad of new sensations. While instrumental CDs are notorious for becoming monotonous and extremely repetitive after the first few tracks, Apell…

‘Pop Ambient 2009’ is the latest in the much loved series from Kompakt

The bliss is back (finally). For those that know will have to forgive our delay in bringing this new edition of our beloved Pop Ambient series to the world however we couldn’t be prouder of the contributions we have to offer this year. To the uninitiated, Pop Ambient serves as a very essential arm of the Kompakt family – always curated by Kompakt co-founder Wolfgang Voigt (aka GAS, Burger/Ink, etc),…

Oliver and Company 20th Anniversary Edition (DVD)

I remember when Oliver and Company was first released; I was 6, and recalled wanting to see the film when it was first released. However, in the years that passed, the film has fallen out of my memory, until Disney announced plans that they were going to release an updated DVD for the film’s twentieth anniversary celebration. This DVD is what we hold in our hands, and it features a…

Smashing it on 4 decks, critics have called him ‘the ultimate combination between Prince, The Thin White Duke and Metallica’. Dos Lunas Tequila (Anejo)

We have not had too much of an opportunity to review tequila for our alcohol reviews section, but lucky for us, Dos Lunas tequila sent on over a sample of their Anejo tequila. The bottle is the first thing that really shines about the tequila, which looks (in my opinion) like a lipstick tube. Pull off the burnished-metal top and one has a smooth, woodsy-smelling flavor immediately present. After a…

APB – Something To Believe In: 20th Anniversary Release (CD)

The one thing that strikes the listener is that the music contained here is still as fresh as possible; there has been no dating of this material, nor can this be seen as merely a stepping stone from punk to the alternative music of the nineties. If this album were released as new material today, there is no doubt that the dorks at Pitchfork would be creaming their collective jeans.…

2K Sports MLB Front Office Manager (Xbox 360)

There have been a number of video games that have provided at least some option for players to control and built their own teams throughout virtual years, but no game that I can easily recall has been developed that has as its primary goal this coddling and building of a team. 2K Sports have attempted to do this gargantuan task with MLB Front Office Manager, a next-generation title that will…
