Evangelicals Share First Video from “The Evening Descends” and Launch Tour

Excitement over Evangelicals new album has been building since its
release on January 22nd. In Mojo’s four star review they describe
“The Evening Descends” as “the aural equivalent of staring through
intermittent fog” while Pitchfork gave it an 8.3 and a Recommended
stamp of approval. And this is just the beginning. We are pleased to
share the first video from “The Evening Descends,” in which the song
“Midnight Vignette” is given the visual treatment. With an aesthetic
not far from the pulp-y, playful and twisted horror films the
Evangelicals love so dearly, “Midnight Vignette” could be a music
video approximation of Brian De Palma’s classic “Carrie.” Directed by
Matt Leach, this video is playful, scary and downright strange. In
other words, it is perfect for Evangelicals.

Evangelicals are also launching a massive coast-to-coast tour with
Headlights today. With seven weeks of dates on the books and barely a
day off, they are likely to be coming to your city soon. Following
this extensive US trip, Evangelicals head to Europe for the first

Press photos, hi-res album art, one sheet text:

Press from “The Evening Descends”:
“This is a great album, a big, sprawling, mess of a trip through the
band’s unhinged and unruly musical vocabulary. It’s a strain of pop,
no mistake there; but as made by kids from Oklahoma weaned on the Lips
and Scooby Doo re-runs, on 8-bit pastimes and ’80s bands (U2, the
Smiths, even the Cure circa “Just Like Heaven” come through virtuosic
singer-guitarist Josh Jones’s home blend). Now take that mess of
modifiers and run it through a kaleidoscope” – Stereogum.com

“Channeling X-Ray Spex, OutKast, Prince and a less-twee-Sundays and
even out reverbing My Morning Jacket on an epic about having your legs
sawn off, Evangelicals sing of skeletons, snowflakes and things that
go bump in the night with witty samples and imaginative arrangements.
A testament to the occasional fearlessness of youth.” – Uncut
