Multi-platinum selling Far East Movement (aka FM) will hit the road this summer with Lil Wayne for the second leg of the I Am Music Tour kicking off July 13 in Hartford, CT at the Comcast Theater. Far East Movement members Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman will join Rick Ross, who supported on the first leg, along with tour newcomers, Grammy nominated Keri Hilson and R&B vocalist Lloyd.
Far East Movement found mainstream success after building a following in the Downtown Los Angeles club scene. They triumphed when their song, “Girls On The Dance Floor,” co-written by Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter Bruno Mars, topped radio charts across the country. The success led to a record deal with CherryTree/Interscope Records and release of their debut album, Free Wired, in October 2010. The album’s lead single, “Like A G6,” exploded on radio and sales charts, reaching triple platinum-plus status and the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart making them the first Asian-American group with a #1 song in the country. “Rocketeer,” the second single featuring Ryan Tedder of One Republic, became another platinum selling Top 10 Billboard charting that connected with new fans of all ages.
Superstar Snoop Dogg is featured on “If I Was You (OMG),” the new single off Free Wired, which has climbed steadily at Top 40 radio reaching #44 this week.
Far East Movement is currently on the Free Wired World Tour playing hits off their debut album at college campuses across the country.
The group is in the middle of the ‘If I Was You (OMG) Contest’ where college students upload an “If I Was You (OMG)” inspired video to www.FarEastMovement.com. The contest winner will receive a private Far East Movement performance in their dorm room with 10 friends. Full details and rules for the contest can be viewed on the group’s website – www.FarEastMovement.com.
Tickets for select dates will go on sale through LiveNation.com starting the weekend of May 20th.
