Allen Stone will be embarking on a North American headline tour this fall, which will feature special guests Tingsek, Sister Sparrow, Yuna, and Selah Sue on select dates, kicks off on September 24 at Philadelphia’s World Cafe Live.
Allen, whose mother, Sandy Stone, is a breast cancer survivor, has forged a partnership with The Keep A Breast Foundation™ (http://keep-a-breast.org), wherein fifty cents from every ticket sold on the tour (including pre-sales and ticket bundles) will go directly to the organization. The Keep A Breast Foundation™ is the leading youth-focused, global, nonprofit breast cancer organization.
The 25-year-old soul singer from Chewelah, WA recently signed to ATO Records, which will give his self-titled album its wide release on July 31. Stone released his album digitally via his own stickystones label last fall. It quickly entered the Top 10 of Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and the Top 5 of iTunes’ R&B/Soul charts. Performances on “Conan,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Last Call with Carson Daly” and “Live from Daryl’s House” followed and Esquire, CNN and Billboard named Stone as an artist to watch – all before he had signed with a label.
“With his tangle of blond locks and lumberjack sweater, he looks less like a soul singer and more like someone you’d find selling hemp necklaces in Big Sur,” said Forbes.com in a feature exploring his success as an independent artist. “But soon hundreds of slack-jawed hipsters have sheathed their smartphones to listen as he belts out the words to his song ‘Unaware,’ sounding something like the love child of Stevie Wonder and a resurrected Amy Winehouse, if not better.”
The New York Times’ Jon Pareles noted: “his music reached back four decades to the late 1960s and early ’70s, when songwriters like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers brought introspection and social commentary to soul music.” “Stone’s beautiful music has universal appeal,” said the Chicago Tribune while the LA Weekly declared: “he’s the real deal.”
that are de rigueur at his shows.
Stone has spent the past four years honing his unique style the old-fashioned way: crisscrossing the country in a van with his ace band and playing any small club that would have him. Since the digital release of his self-titled album via his own stickystones label in October 2011, Stone’s shows have been selling out from coast to coast. The album jumped into the Top 10 of Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and entered the Top 5 of iTunes’ R&B/Soul charts. His first national television appearance – on “Conan” – came after the music booker saw a YouTube video of Allen performing “Unaware” in his mother’s living room. Performances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Last Call with Carson Daly” and “Live from Daryl’s House” followed and Esquire, CNN and Billboard named Stone as an artist to watch – all before he had the support of a record label. Stone has since signed to ATO Records, which is bringing the album into wide release.

Ahh! So glad Selah Sue is gonna be performing at the Milwaukee date!! I’ve been obsessed with her new song “Raggamuffin.” NPR actually just did a feature on her too: http://www.npr.org/2012/08/25/159793123/selah-sue-from-online-stardom-to-a-stage-with-prince
