On Anthony J. Resta’s cover of The Guitar Man, one can hear tremendous reverence for the source material. Resta is able to do what many performers that cover song cannot; he is able to inject enough of his own influence and overall sound to the performance. The bones of this classic are still good, but Resta’s take on the track is softer, more guitar-driven, and ends up covering a lot of ground between the California pop-rock sound of the late 1960s / early 1970s and the more contemplative singer-songwriter fare of the 1970s. Strap on your headphones and focus in to The Guitar Man as a great way to end this year and begin 2026.
