While I had picked this up last time I went to Boxcar Books in Bloomington, Indiana , I hadn’t really had anything in the way of time to flip through it. I almost regret that it took me so long to get a chance to read Leapfrog, because while it focuses on something that I had only a minor amount of interest in at the onset (biking), the pieces are on the average written well enough that my interest was not flagged at any point during the read. Every single piece in this issue has a personal slant to it, whether it is talking about the progressive street policies of Portland, Oregon , biking competitively in the mud, or even reviewing a book about bike messengers. Even if there are only thirty-two pages in this issue, Scott still finds the time to go and review other publications that have the same general subject matter as Leapfrog, creating a network of connections that a number of other magazines do not even bother in the first to establish. To even further that, the connections are established in book reviews and a few pages of links about biking. Instead of having interviews with a number of bands, Scott places interviews in Leapfrog about a messenger bag creation company, as well as a group in Portland that turns used bike parts into art. A solid zine about a topic that I didn’t think I would be interested in, but Scott showed me that I had some biker in me somewhere.
