CORRECTIONS HOUSE is an eclectic collective of musical miscreants featuring Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod), Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium), Scott Kelly (Neurosis), and Bruce Lamont (Yakuza). Together they sew a difficult-to-pigeonhole quilt of poetic misanthropy, industrial ear lashings and pure sonic menace. Following a special run of live rituals in January, CORRECTIONS HOUSE recently unleashed a grim visual interpretation of the track “Grin With a Purpose,” currently available via Noisey, Vice Magazine’s…

A Royal Affair DVD Review

A Royal Affair was helmed by the creative team behind the transference of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo from book to film. The sheer amount of drama that is conveyed with this film is excellent. While the actions that are captured here took place in the distant past, there is a sense that the torrid love affair that this film focuses on could easily happy today. A Royal…

To say that “Alpha Ram” is not influenced heavily by the psychedelic and rock music of the mid to late sixties would be to lie outright. The style is fresh enough and Straight Dope Cherry does not suffer from the limited sound that a great many of the albums from that era have. There are some more diverse sounds than those previously mentioned during “Alpha Ram”; Straight Dope Cherry throws…

La Quinta Harrisburg, PA Hotel Review

In the interest of full disclosure, I have had some great nights at the La Quinta hotels in Detroit, MI and Meridian, MS. I found a great deal on the new La Quinta in Harrisburg, but had some complaints about the property. There was a set of lights in the room that would not turn on, and the water was not hot in the slightest. I’d venture to say that…
