The style of music that Speakers For The Dead start out their “Finally” is the same style that a number of nu rock bands have started their disc. There are the same styles, ropey guitars, and smooth vocals that have littered many a 10 Years, Slipknot, Disturbed, and Godsmack track. The one strength that individuals can immediately hear is that Speakers For The Dead have spared no expense getting…
In what comes forth as Spinal Tap meets Queen, the opening track to “Hello Young Lovers” is an interesting opening, especially to those listeners that have not had the luck to hear Sparks in the past. In a sense (as someone that was not even alive when Sparks started their career), I would have to say that Sparks must have had a great influence on They Might Be Giants.…
After an extremely busy summer playing Download Festival, Brutal Assault, Hevy Festival and supporting heavyweights GOJIRA overseas, THE SAFETY FIRE is excited to be joining PERIPHERY and BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME for a month-long tour of Europe. In regards to the tour, guitarist Derya ‘Dez’ Nagle comments: “It has been a while since we last toured Europe and the UK and quite frankly, we can’t wait for it. BETWEEN…
Nearly a decade deep in the rap game, Mike has released five critically hailed records and won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group with Outkast for the song “The Whole World.” But, in no uncertain terms, Mike will tell you that R.A.P. Music is his finest accomplishment. He’ll even call it a “classic.” Of course, every rapper calls every one of their albums a classic. The only…
Celebrated New York rock band HOPEWELL have just released an EP of new material titled Another Music. The first single released from the new effort was a cover of Brian Eno‘s “Needle In The Camel’s Eye” featuring Mark Gardener of eternally cool, seminal shoegaze band RIDE on lead vocals. Now, HOPEWELL releases a second track from Another Music — the infectious new song “The King & the Canary” — which makes its premiere via…

After nearly two years of nonstop live demolition, West Coast gore-torn death metal goliaths, EXHUMED, recently entered the studio to record to the follow-up to 2011’s All Guts, No Glory full-length. If you are in the military, or have a husband, wife, brother, sister, friend or family member who has served or is actively serving, and wish to be included in this video tribute, please take a moment to…
I first was turned onto The Soviettes when their track “Paranoia! Cha-Cha-Cha” was featured on April’s Rock Against Bush compilation. Finally, we are given more than a taste from the Minneapolis act, and they do not disappoint in the least. Mixing the earliest strains of British punk with the straight-forward rock strains started in America, The Soviettes make radio-friendly tracks that are nearly impossible to ignore. Whether it is the…
Continuing on its journey through the Pacific Northwest the Spotify Bus next made its way to North Portland, during the week of MUSICFEST NW. Spotify met up with Radiation City for an intimate performance in the city’s Peninsula Park. Watch them perform “Hide From The Night” off their Cool Nightmare EP, out on Tender Loving Empire. After making their SXSW debut this March, the dream-pop quintet was deemed one of…
Piano Tuning Houston is the place that individuals should check out if they would like to purchase a piano. The sheer stock that they have at any one given time far outstrips other piano places that would be in the area, while the price range that this stock possesses is far lower than similar types of stores. I believe that the customer service that is offered on this website is…
Death metal pioneers INCANTATION have recorded an exclusive track for Decibel Magazine’s Flexi Disc series, which is available only to subscribers. For their contribution to Decibel, INCANTATION founder John McEntee dug into his vault and pulled up the tune “Degeneration,” off the self-titled 1989 demo from his pre-INCAN tech-thrash band, REVENANT. INCANTATION gave the song a proper reworking and the deathed-up, newly-recorded version of the song will appear inside the…

Consider this Generationals’ New Orleans record. But it’s not really a “New Orleans” record. When Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner got off the road after touring for most of 2011 supporting their previous LP Actor-Caster, they decided this time they would write and record in New Orleans. “The weird thing is we always go elsewhere to make records,” Widmer said. Both grew up in the city but since they have been recording music as Generationals…
Following a short run of live dates at the close of the Summer, SONS OF TONATIUH will again bring their slow-roasted sludge sorcery to the stage as the Parade Of Sorrow Tour 2012 lives on! Set to commence October 11, 2012 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the band will drag their audio ruckus through 15 cities including a stop on the Southwest Terror Fest, a two-day auditory assault organized by Arizona sludge…
BLACK COBRA drummer Rafa Martinez was featured in a colossal piece commemorating the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, published today on the National Heavy Metal sector of Examiner.com. Obviously a superfan of the entire Bond legacy, Martinez offered so much personal insight into the franchise of movies — even staging a photo shoot with help from Bay Area photographer Shannon Corr – the feature’s author Mark Morton designated…
What brought you into creating music? I grew up in a family of artists and musicians. I was always surrounded by music and art. I remember picking up a dusty, pink, acoustic guitar in my uncle’s attic and someone teaching me “Sloop John B”. I think that’s what got me started. It was a great era and I listened to bands like The Beatles, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix,…
