Bright Archer’s Hidden Systems is now on Bear Island Records and American Typewriter Records is releasing it on vinyl this fall in Europe. The album, crafted by Portland’s Johanna Kunin along with a host of other musicians, centers on Kunin’s lush voice and piano; a chorus of orchestral instruments, vibraphone and playful keyboard sounds allow each of the new songs to take on ornate lives of their own. The resulting…

Unknown Mortal Orchestra first dropped into the world in late 2010 as a bandcamp account carrying a single called “Ffunny Ffrends.” “Ffunny Ffrends” was everything you imagined it might be – alien beatnik pop music that echoed 60s psychedelia and krautrock minimalism with just a hint of gentle weirdness that suggested its roots might equally lie in the verdant indie of the equally distant New Zealand scene. Ruban Nielson is…

The sonic swelter of guitars and gentle finger picked motifs work like seaweed swaying with rhythm and beats. Front-woman Tanya Horo’s chilling but childlike vocals effortlessly trick and tease the melodies, weaving her lyrics and captivating audiences. Compelling the listener to delve further into this weird and wondrous world that brought Sherlock’s Daughter from the wide open spaces of downunder to the concrete jungle of New York. The band’s latest…
The sheer amount of different fat burning and thermogenic products that are currently out on the market are staggering, and the efficacy of these varies considerably. We are pleased to report that Burn Extreme from John Scott’s Nitro is one of the few products that looks to increase what individuals expect from their fat burning pills. This is done through a blend of a full panoply of different vitamins –…
“Last Transmission” is the first track on “After All This Time”, and it immediately provides listeners with the perfect blend of emo, rock, and punk music. The nearest thing that I can link Low Fi to is the pre-Metal Blade Goo Goo Dolls. There is a fury and passion that is present with each of the cuts on this EP that will permanently imprint the band onto the minds and…
The beer comes out with a very yellow-orange color and an opaqueness that immediately establishes the effort as pretty unique. The whitish-yellow head that pours out added to the slightly astringent nose provide imbibers with a few hints about the beer, but it does take a few solid swigs to get a better appreciation for the beer. There is some sweetness to be had, but it is moderated substantially by…
