Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby is a beautifully raw and touching album: vocal harmonies, crackling, buzzing atmospheres and the upbeat/downbeat lyrics of a couple that have been one too many times around the dance floor. There are no other musicians involved here, just Eric on guitars, bass guitar and organ, Amy on guitars and piano, plus the odd sample, some well placed percussion and an old bossa nova beatbox. This…

Stainless Steel Lens #1 / $1 / 7 by 14 (about) / 24 Pages / Love Bunni Press, 2641 Euclid Heights #3, Cleveland Heights, OH 44106 This is probably the third photo zine I have ever gotten in my hands for review in NF/IS. The first was by an Albertan, and I believe it was named Dystopia (Dysphoria). It was a tiny zine that I managed to lose, like Pomegranate…
Evidence One is one of the most talented groups on the contemporary melodic rock scene, paying homage to traditional hard rock while in the same time sharpening it with a hard metal edge. “Tattooed Heart†is their second full-length release and one of their best – it contains all the elements that make a band worth your attention: great musicianship, passionate vocals and a powerful message. If you think that…
Extremely psyched to bring you a preview from the debut self-titled full length of one of Portland’s most talked about new bands. Starfucker is a name that is not so much a rejection of the seriousness in the music industry, but a commitment to the playful spirit of their music; an understanding between three multi-instrumentalists in a ethereal galaxy of drums, drum machines, keyboards, guitars, turntablism, and a live performance…
Eminem remixes classic Masta Ace record for Delicious Vinyl Eminem emerges from the shadows to rework Masta Ace’s classic “Slaughtahouse” for Delicious Vinyl’s RMXXOLOGY. Originally released on 1993’s Slaughtahouse, the track called for a “death to the wack MC’s” and the gangsta rap era. The original video featured Masta Ace and crew rhyming in an actual slaughterhouse. Dressed in white butcher suits, drenched in blood, and with axes in their…

Spin January 2006 / $2.99 / 80M / http://www.spin.com / Spin has been around for twenty years, so it may just be a little hard to come up with a review that says things that have not previously been said. Spin to me seems to be the younger person’s version of Rolling Stone; it is better informed than Clearchannel radio or Mtv, but still is about 6 months behind the…

Ey’s zines come out fairly often, and I’m on eir’s auto-send list. Talking to eir on AIM is a minor look into eir’s life, but it does nothing to really figure out who is Cubbie.
