Well, I was supposed to get this zine from Alex himself, and even sent him money, but I was a moron and forgot a letter in his street name. So, I bought this zine from Microcosm during AMC, and I am still glad. The excellent writing, the events that don’t really matter in the…

Drenched in Herring’s marked reverb-laden guitar…

This means that the style of music that the band crafts during the opening track is new and fresh, and allows for the act to create their own sound…

Drank Too Much In Milwaukee #2 (Dug, iliketodrawpictures@hotmail.com , 414-372-4260– no other addy) The title of this zine (at least the first part) is probably the most truthful title of a zine that I have seen in my days of reviewing. Pretty much every little snippet of Dug’s journal entries deals with a serious amount of drinking, whether it be “I’m Thankful for Beerâ€, “Songs About Drinkingâ€, or “Drinkin’ With…

Switches – We Are Switches / 2007 Interscope / 4 Tracks / http://www.myspace.com/weareswitches / “Lay Down The Law†is the first track on this EP, and it shows The Switches as a band that can create an angular rock sound that does not sound like the style crafted by many of the other bands in that style. This is done by incorporating a softer, more dreamy type of style –…

There seems to be a slight…

Pawbox – S/T / 2007 Self / 5 Tracks / http://www.myspace.com/pawbox / Pawbox does not immediately shoehorn themselves into a specific style of music. Sure, they play rock music, but it is hard to tell where exactly they get their influences during a track like â€O.O.T.N.I.F.â€. There are hints of HIM, Velvet Underground, and even the Stone Temple Pilots, but these only describe a fraction of the band’s sound. The…

If you want to know how I got this zine, I would say to read the review of #3. This zine is just as fabulous as the last issue, with a little bit different choice of topics. I am really curious about the writer named Mike Hideous. I’m guessing it’s a different Myke Hideous than the one that sang with the Misfits for the grand total of about three weeks,…
