Teenage Bottlerocket! They have a new song posted on their myspace page called “Warning Device” . Greetings my fellow commie pinkos! I’ve been waiting for this day for a couple of years now. More like a brand new song from Red Scare’s flagship band, Teenage Bottlerocket. The song is called “In The Basement” and it comes from their upcoming LP, “Warning Device”, which is out January 8th. Happy days are…
Serena Ryder – Told You In A Whispered Song / 2007 Atlantic / 5 Tracks / http://www.serenaryder.com / http://www.atlanticrecords.com / For a while before looking it up, I was confusing Serena Ryder with Sarina Paris. Both are Canadians, but there’s quite a few years difference between the ending of Paris’ popular musical career and the beginning of Ryder’s popular phase. The tracks on “Told You In A Whispered Song†provide…
Wu-Tang Clan released 8 Diagrams, their eagerly awaited reunion album on December 11th, on Steve Rifkind’s revived Loud Records label through Universal Records in conjunction with SRC & Wu Music Group, marking a reunion between the legendary hip-hop group and the pioneering rap entrepreneur. The first single, “The Heart Gently Weeps†is an interpolation of George Harrison’s classic Beatles song, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,†Harrison’s son Dhani Harrison, Erykah…
“The Sex Issue” – Really, the title does better about telling a potential reader about what this issue of the zine is about than any job I could do. Still, the story is about Vermicious Knid’s adventures with outdoor sex and his partner Kelly. The politics of circumstance strike Vermicious Knid badly both times, as the sex is interrupted both times to amusing factors. Now, I’m too much of a…

Star Trek: Conquest / 2007 Bethesda / http://www.bethsoft.com / http://startrek.bethsoft.com / It feels good getting games in for the Wii. “Star Trek: Conquest” is the second game that we here at NeuFutur have had the chance to review, and it is a hell of a second game to play. The intense graphics that are in-game (rather than cinematics or other fluff) push the Wii to their limits, especially when one…

Brown Eye Pie #5 / $1 / :20 / 44M / http://www.browneyepie.com / POB 172, Muskegon, MI 49443 /Â For being called Brown Eye Pie, there is just not enough talk about poop. Sure, the interview that was conducted with the Fleshies is full of brown goodness, but the vast majority of pieces in this issue just do not have anything to do with shit. Other pieces seem to drag…
Created in spring 2005, PALE OBSESSION spent a whole year practicing and working to reach the level of music they wanted to. What first began as a common project of bandleader and singer Joe MAY and keyboarder Christian KRIER became a coherent band during 2005. At the end of 2005, the actual line-up of PALE OBSESSION had found together, regrouping, beside the 2 founders, Marc GOERGEN as drummer, Luc COLJON…
The Evil Dead: Ultimate Edition / 2007 Anchor Bay / 85 Mins / http://www.anchorbayentertainment.com / The Evil Dead is a great movie on its own, and showcased the ability of a very young Sam Raimi. This year marks the 25th anniversary since the film was first released, and Anchor Bay Entertainment has created a commemorative 3-DVD set that provides individuals with everything they could conceivably ever want to know about…
V:28 VioLution is the final part in the V:28 apocalyptic trilogy of humanity and the world coming to an end. This release, like the first two, is produced by LRZ, and demonstrates the band’s versatile evolution and expansion. The music has strong metal roots, and varies from extreme blast beats to groovy mid paced death metal and walls of noise and ambient drones. With guest appearances by Kristoffer Garm Rygg…
Breaking Open My Head #2 / .50 / :15 / 32M / Box 5138, 222 Church St, Middletown, CT, 06459-5138 /Â This magazine goes pretty much everywhere, as it is a personal zine with a very political subtext that is run all through this issue. This is done by an individual still in high school, and there seems to be a lack of smoothed-out philosophy here. For example, there are…
Thrash’s most underrated harbingers of the apocalypse for years now, Norway’s Audipain are set on world domination on their latest, The Switch To Turn Off Mankind. Don’t believe the hype? Read some initial praise on the new one. “Unlike today’s trend-hoppers, who blow their loads early, shoving Bonded by Blood through flailing German overeagerness, Audiopain are grim, disciplined, professional operators.” – Decibel SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is…
This is a book of pictures that has a little bit of commentary by the editor of the magazine. The editor used to work at a photo lab, and was able to take some of the trash photos home, and this is the product of that scavenging. Each page has a picture, and a little bit of writing, continuing a narrative that, in its brevity, is still able to explore…

Bowlcut : postmodern scissors cutting your hairdo of oppression / $1/Trade/Half Sized / 24 Pages / bowlcut_zine@yahoo.com The zine doesn’t disappoint with the content foretold by its title. Postmodernism is followed to an absurd degree, including the most random quotes and instructions : for example, “Imagine Your Favourite Celebrity taking a DUMP.†and “Got PENIS?†For someone like me who loves anything absurdist and or postmodern, this zine is a…
When Jamie T visited the States on his first ever US headlining tour this Fall, he made a special visit to the iTunes studio in San Francisco. With his backing band, The Pacemakers, in tow, the guys laid down 4 tracks effectively capturing the scruffy, punk feeling of the live experience. Featuring ‘Alicia Quays’, ‘Dry Off Your Cheeks’, and ‘So Lonely Was The Ballad’ from Panic Prevention, released in August,…

Bondage Up Yours / $5 / 1:15 / 68M / http://www.activedistribution.org / This is an impressive and informative mini-book that describes its sub-title topic (Female Punks in the Nineteen Nineties) admirably. The book starts off with a quick-rundown of punk’s history (since the author Michelle is British, the band list is substantially different than what most American individuals would deem “punkâ€), and then starts to move into the history of…
