TV Party: The Documentary / 2006 MVD / 91 Minutes / http://www.mvdb2b.com / TV Party was a television show that took place in New York City in the late seventies and early eighties. This is after the punk scene started to fizzle out in that area, leaving only the art students to mount anything that resembled a revolution. This is a documentary about TV Party and the effect that it…

Botox Party – E.P. / 2007 Upchuck / 6 Tracks / http://www.myspace.com/botoxpartyva / http://www.upchuckrecords.com / Aside from some crust punk albums, the runtime of “E.P.†has to be some of the shortest I’ve ever heard. This does not mean that the harder edged punk music of Botox Party is forgettable. In a way, a track like “Problematic Emotions†calls forth bands like Pulley and “Cheshire Cat†or “Buddha†era Blink…
Magnet has added a handful of solo headline shows to bookend his fall U.S. tour with Montreal indie poppers Stars. The monthlong tour, in support of his new album, THE SIMPLE LIFE [released September 18 on Filter US Recordings], kicks off in New York mid-October and breaks his year and a half stateside absence. Stiff Little Fingers – Handheld & Rigidly Digital / 2006 MVD / 87 Minutes / http://www.mvdb2b.com / I am not sure what the impetus was for this concert to be captured on a digital, miniature camera. There is definitely an older feel to this footage, but that is due to the fact that the digital camera is no substitute to the high-level cameras that are available to production crews. The…
TV Party – The Crusades Show / 2006 MVD / 58 Minutes / http://www.mvdb2b.com / http://www.brink.com / For those individuals that have had a chance to see “The Time & Makeup Showâ€, “The Crusades Show†is a year and a half later. Things have changed. If one event could be chosen as being the most momentous between 1979 and 1981, it would have to be the election of Ronald Reagan…

The Hazey Janes – Always There / 2006 Measured / 3 Tracks / http://www.thehazeyjanes.co.uk / “Always There†is the first track on this EP, and it sounds like The Hazey Janes have heard a lot of “Big Meâ€-era Foo Fighters. The opening strains of the track have a high amount of this influence, with only later the band taking a sixties boy band (think a blend of equal part Beatles…
A pretty amazing story has surfaced regarding the infamous All Time Low promo photos for their new album So Wrong, It’s Right which comes out September 25th on Hopeless Records. A girl by the name of “Rea” who goes to school in ATL’s home state of Maryland at Magnolia Middle School in Harford County was suspended from school for THREE DAYS for having this photo (http://www.media.wmg-is.com/media/portal/media/cms/images/200708/all-time-low-1-extralarge_1187366032969.jpg) hanging outside her locker.…
Robin Trower – Living Out of Time / 2006 Music Video Distributors / 83 Minutes / http://www.trowerpower.com / http://www.mvdb2b.com / I always am shocked by these individuals; skinny, British guitarists that I would normally assume would play a brand of music that wouldn’t be too incongruous with James Taylor. Starting off “Living Out of Time†with “Too Rolling Stonedâ€, Trower shows fans that ey has not lost any of the…
There seem to be more and more in the way of different writing services that have a considerable presence on the internet. These essay writers are able to provide papers, or at least good starts for papers, for a nominal fee. I know quite a few individuals that have used this type of custom writing service, and they have never had a problem with anything that has been put out.…

There are a number of individuals that wish to buy essays, but just do not know where to go to do so. There is a website called custom-essay.org that individuals can get pieces of custom writing from, and at a price that won’t make individuals have to subsist on ramen noodles. essay writing is a hard field to find quality skills in, but I believe that a site like custom-essay.org…
Scene of Action – S/T / 2007 Pop Smear / 5 Tracks / http://www.myspace.com/sceneofaction / http://www.popsmearrecords.com / I have to be honest here. When I first the instrumentation at the beginning of Scene of Action’s disc, I heard The Killers. In much of the same way, the first time I heard the band’s vocals on “Daydream Stop hockâ€, I thought they paid off Gerard Way to do the vocals. The…
“They have taken the brass sound that Dexys Midnight Runners packed away in their attic 20 years ago and injected it with enough fun, melody and soul to make it truly their own.” Music Week”Having toured relentlessly round the UK for the past year, Charlie’s rousing hymns to underdogs and the band’s parping brass and rock’n’soul reverie finally seems to be creating ever-bigger waves.” The Fly SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on…
The Toy Dolls – Our Last DVD? / 2006 MVD / 72 Minutes / http://www.mvdb2b.com / Why is it that The Toy Dolls look exactly the same as when they started out their career in 1979? Why is it that when I’m not looking at the screen and just listening to the style of their music, I am not sure whether this is 1980, 1990, 2000, or 2006? The video…

Caleb Micah – Come Home / 2007 Aux / 6 Tracks / http://www.calebmich.com / http://www.auxrecords.com / “Come Home†starts out with “Juan Shoe is Gonna Rock You!â€, a track that uses a duet of vocals done in a back and forth style that is given the perfect amount of support by the slightly country-tinged sound of the guitars and drums. This style reminds me vaguely of The Anniversary, but don’t…
