Kiss – Kissology Volume 2

Kiss – Kissology Volume 2 / 2007 VH1 Classics / 407 Minutes / http://www.kissonline.com / http://www.vh1classic.com / I find it harder and harder for record labels and bands to keep individuals interested when subsequent volumes of material are issued. The best case in point that I can come up with has to be the third volume of Van Morrison’s greatest hits, which had none of the hits that even my…

Birds & Batteries Release 2nd Album, “I’ll Never Sleep Again”

“In making the decision to put ‘Heart of Gold’ first on the album, I knew that it would probably make a lot of very hip people scoff, but that seemed like a really bad reason not to do it.” – Mike Sempert, producer/arranger of Birds & Batteries on why he kicks off sophomore album I’ll Never Sleep Again with a Neil Young cover. MxPx – B-Movie

MxPx – B-Movie / 2004 SideOneDummy / http://www.mxpx.com / http://www.sideonedummy.com / Hey, I didn’t realize that MxPx had been doing music for twelve years. I remember getting introduced to them when their song “Chick Magnet” hit the air in 1998. Well, that’s been what? 7 years – and thats when they got incredibly, almost annoying large in terms of punk music. However, the anger that I felt about “Chick Magnet”…

Molly Hatchet – Live In Hamburg

Molly Hatchet – Live In Hamburg / 2006 SPV / http://www.mollyhatchet.com / http://www.spv.de / There does not seem to be any better place for Molly Hatchet in a world context than a biker’s get-together in Germany. Of course, the visual production of “Live in Hamburg” is beyond reproach; this could be a movie if the producers decided to cast it in those terms. In much the same way, the sound…

Lair (Playstation 3)

Lair / 2007 Sony / http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/OGS/BCUS-98112/Site/ / http://www.sony.com / You control Rohn in Lair, who is a knight that has a mount in a dragon. The game is similar to a Panzer Dragoon (if you remember that), in that missions largely take place in the air. Unlike Panzer Dragoon, Lair makes individuals complete missions in such a way that Rohn gains different abilities, combos, and other skills based on how…

Finesse Mitchell – Snap-Famous

Finesse Mitchell – Snap-Famous / 2007 Image / 52 Minutes / http://www.finessemitchell.com / http://www.image-entertainment.com / Finesse Mitchell was on Saturday Night Live for a little bit. After that, my knowledge about the comedian decreased to effectively zero. Apparently, ey was doing the comedy circuits as popular knowledge decreased. However, there is not a complete break with the past during “Snap Famous”. Mitchell describes in (often-times) hilarious detail about eir time…

Citay Prepare “Little Kingdom”, Offer “First Fantasy” MP3

Welcome to Citay’s “Little Kingdom”. It’s an otherworldly place, full of psychedelic swirl, soaring harmonies and grandiose jams. “Little Kingdom” is the second album from San Francisco’s Citay. It’s an epic journey, and an album that sounds out of place in 2007 – a classic in the purest sense. Like Citay’s 2006 self-titled debut, the ’70s rock sensibility is intact; Thin Lizzy, acoustic Led Zeppelin, Big Star and the Byrds…

Master Papers

I know that I have been around in the college scene for about six years, and perhaps the hardest thing to do is write papers that are interesting and conform to the desire of teachers. There have been a number of different business ventures and websites available since I started school that would provide individuals with different ways to go and get this information, but none of these sites have…

Beatnik Termites – Taste the Sand [ADB]

Beatnik Termites – Taste the Sand 11 songs, released in 1995 on Black Pumpkin Records. It cost me nothing. This band has been around since 1990, and they definitely know their music. The Termites are a great sounding surf punk band that fuse surf music and pop punk to make a very catchy and memorable listening experience. The songs get pretty sappy, but are written well enough to avoid just…

The Matches – Live From The House of Blues / 2004 Kung Fu / http://www.thematches.com / http://www.kungfurecords.com/ Starting out their concert with “Dog Eared Page”, The Matches play each track with the energy and talent that was so present on “E. Who is BM Linx?

New York City based trio BM LINX have quickly emerged and excelled in an already over-crowded NYC music scene. With their infectious style of beat-driven electro rock, their often dark & brutally honest lyrics – it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why these lads have quickly gained a name for themselves. Having played at Club NME on Sept 12th at Silverlakes Spaceland and joined Brit electro disco maestro…
