Agnostic Front-Raw Unleashed [ADB]

Agnostic Front-Raw Unleashed 62 songs on Grand Theft Auto in 1995. All of the songs in their unfinished format. Really short songs (under one minute) in a pre mix down format. The songs are very powerful, with excellent political lyrics. Unfortunately, the guitar lines usually are the same distorted power chords, and the guy sings the same way on most of the songs. They sound like MOD, SOD, and Exodus…

The Adults – Action Street [ADB]

The Adults- Action Street I did not like this album much. Its an album with minimal guitars, and when they do have guitars, its still just a guy half singing half speaking. The Adults half sound like Primus and half like Mr. Tornado Head, taking the worst elements from each. This is boring college-style rock and thats all i have to say. This album gets a 4.5/10

Earl Greyhound Announce Fall Tour With Chris Cornell & Gov’t Mule

“You can tell by the way Earl Greyhound pistol-whip the middle of “Monkey” in chopped-up meter, “Black Dog” style, that they are here to get the Led out.” – Rolling Stone “Whether or not Earl Greyhound are the next big thing is irrelevant—watching them will convince you that they are.” – New Yorker

Adam West-13 De Luxe [ADB]

Adam West-13 De Luxe This is 1999 Fandango, with 13 songs . Fandango records is the label the Adam West was on, which they created themselves. The music is Rock, with definite Misfits influences (They have covered Misfits songs on 7 inch.). The songs have a chunky, old sounding guitar riffs. AW is really hard to describe expect for sounding like Misfits meets Monster Magnet. Song 13 is the longest…

Acumen-Territory=Universe [ADB]

Acumen-Territory=Universe This band gives me a headache. I usually like most bands, as evidenced by my album reveiws, but this is pointless repetitive shit. I heard of this band from the techtronik people at school, and picked the cd up for that reason. Dont ever believe any good albums picked by your friends, because usually they will disappoint you. This band sounds most like the vocals of Rob Zombie +…

H2O – One Life One Chance

H2O – One Life One Chance / 2006 MVD / 157 Minutes / http://www.h2ogo.com / http://www.mvdb2b.com / Ever since I heard the title track from this DVD, I was a H2O fan. I have a copy of “F.T.T.W.”, and to get a chance to see them with ten years under their belt is exciting to say the least. This is another double-shot DVD; “One Life One Chance” has both a…

Phosphorescent Announces “Pride”, Offers Free MP3, Tours U.S. in October

Musicians often head to New York – it’s a familiar story. But something magical happened when Matthew Houck picked up stakes halfway through making his new Phosphorescent record, “Pride”, and moved to Brooklyn from Athens, Georgia. “Pride” is something different. While it’s not without the moments of sheer abandon that have made Phosphorescent’s work unmistakable-“At Death, A Proclamation” thunders into familiar territory-mostly gone are the messy marching bands and evangelical…

Hooked

Hooked / 2006 MVD / http://www.hookedmovie.com / http://www.musicvideodistributors.com / Being a member of the GLBT community, it never really startled me that so much of a large section of the movement’s life was spent on gay.com and other GLBT-oriented chatrooms. I would go on and troll, but it was never for actual companionship. To be truthful, a number of the individuals that are interviewed in “Hooked” really make much more…

Marlene Tholl – Kore

Marlene Tholl – Kore / 2006 Self / 11 tracks / http://www.marelenetholl.com World music is an inexplicably tough genre in which to attain popularity . This can be assumed, of course, with any genre of music, but world music is constantly thrown into a category with classical or orchestral. I had some hope in World music, especially with more mainstream bands like Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly infusing Irish beats…

Hip Hop Life

Hip Hop Life / 2007 Universal / 79 Minutes / http://www.universal.com / I like rap battle DVDs. That much is true. Hip Hop Life has a rap battle in it, but one has to wonder why exactly they picked the judges that they picked. Jadakiss for all intensive purposes was a two-hit wonder (“Why” and “U Make Me Wanna”), MC Lyte hasn’t been relevant since 1997, and Freeway hasn’t hit…
