Pastitsio Restaurant Review (3716 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201)

Myself and the wife like Greek food. While we have some love for the gyro or the generic Mediterranean food shop (check out South Side 6 in Bowling Green, Ohio or Continental Grill in Kent, Ohio), pure Greek food is hard to get. Pure Greek food that is actually well-made and cheap is even harder to get.

Jeremih – All About You (CD)

Jeremih had a number of tracks that captured listeners throughout most of 2009, especially the oft-heard “Birthday Sex”. While there were other tracks on eir first album that really expanded eir range as a performer, I feel that Jeremih’s new album, “All About You” is something that should solidify eir as a performer in the likes of R. Kelly. The disc itself begins with the self-titled track, a song that…

NeuFutur Magazine and The Doobie Brothers Want To Give You a Guitar!

The Doobie Brother’s musical legacy spans nearly four decades, from their classic 70’s hits “Listen to the Music,” “Black Water,” “Long Train Running” to their chart-topping new album World Gone Crazy, the band’s first release in over ten years. To celebrate their recent success the band is teaming up with neufutur.com to give one lucky fan an acoustic guitar autographed by the entire band, including founding members Pat Simmons and…

The Choir – Burning Like The Midnight Sun (CD)

Unfortunately, it seems like I have missed the bulk of The Choir’s work. As they have been a band since 1985, and have released 17 different albums, I feel like I have a lot to catch up upon. However, starting up “Burning Like The Midnight Sun” requires nothing in the way of familiarity with the band. From the beginning of the band’s introductory track, “Midnight Sun”, it seems as if…

Mad Ron’s Prevues From Hell (DVD)

There are few in the way of such comprehensive collections of early horror trailers, and Mad Ron’s Prevues From Hell ensures that viewers have an amazing treasure trove of these to sink their teeth into. The film itself provides nearly fifty trailers, comprising a veritable laundry list of titles from the classic period to the then-present (1987) in horror, gore, and other related genres. Trailers include those created for Three…

Score (Blu-Ray)

Few individuals are lucky enough to remember this 1972 title, directed by Radley Metzger. Fresh off the releases of Camille 2000 and The Lickerish Quartet, Score is a film that attempts to be something to everyone. Based off an off-Broadway play that had a decidedly short run (23 weeks), the title begins with a couple (Jack and Elvira Jackson, played here by Gerald Grant and Claire Wilbur) attempting to determine…

The Hollywood Sqaures (Nintendo Wii)

There are very few game show games worth their salt. In most cases, these types of titles merely consist of a mini-game that in some nominal way resembles the format or the style of the game show that they are aping. However, the Nintendo Wii version of popular game show re-do The Hollywood Squares seems to merit additional playing. Whether it be the colorful graphics, intuitive game play, or catchy…

Old Spice Red Zone Body Wash – After Hours (12 Fluid Ounces)

Throughout the last five years or so, we here at NeuFutur have been through countless amounts of different body washes, whether they be the store brand, Axe, or numerous other brand’s efforts. We had not had the chance to give the Old Spice line a fair shake since it was introduced, so we were able to procure one of their “Red Zone” line in the After Hours scent. The scent…

Sissita’s Soul Tangos – S/T (CD)

“All of You” is a track that could easily be enjoyed, regardless of whether the listener was from 1880, 1920, 1950, or today. There is little more to this first track on Sissita’s self-titled disc than vocals, but her chops are such that any fan of music will be happy with what issues forth from their stereo. “Nightmares” continues this train, but gives the backing instrumentation a little more of…

Kylie Minogue – Rare and Unseen (DVD)

It seems that there is very little in the way of active work being done to restore old interviews, performances, and the like from musicians. Whether it be straight releases from VHS of extremely important titles like Urgh! A Music War or music-related films like Times Square, many movie houses could stand to do what is done with Kylie Minogue – Rare and Unseen. This collection brings together an interview…

Weather HD: Or Pleasant Skies HD (iPhone App)

Weather HD is a very attractive weather App for the iPad. It is so very picturesque that it may replace the photo slide show that I sometimes use while my iPad charges over night. The App has a very nice feel to it, and it contains moving pictures that are very soothing to look at. The App also contains quite a bit more than the native iPhone Weather App does,…

Inspector Lewis: Series 3 (DVD Set)

It does feel as if some of the different British releasing companies tend to slack off when it comes to releasing various seasons of shows from the BBC and ITV. For example, there seems to be something a little off with a release like the sixth series of Foyle’s War. Whether it be a slightly muddy print or a lack of additional features, it just makes sense to bring over…

Hell Is Sold Out (DVD)

VCI Entertainment has created a number of DVD releases for films that have been forgotten about or otherwise slept on for a great period of time. Hell is Sold Out is one of these films; a 1951 film featuring Richard Attenborough, has been released under the company’s “Best of!” line. This Special Edition has been cleaned up from source prints, ensuring that video and audio quality is absolutely stunning considering…

Video Games Live: Level 2 (CD)

For those that may have missed it, Video Games Live is a set of concerts that were created by long time video game music composers Tommy Tallerico and Jack Wall. A performance consists of the orchestra providing their own take on music from titles as famous as The Legend of Zelda, Silent Hill, and Sonic the Hedgehog along with slightly lesser-known titles like Headhunter and Advent Rising.

Two and a Half Men: The Complete Seventh Season (DVD Set)

Many shows start to grind gears by the time they get to as many seasons as Two and a Half Men, but this DVD set should show that there is some gas left in the show’s tank. As evidence by the ratings it still generates, many people are familiar with the general premise of the show – Charlie Sheen’s womanizing Charles and the eternally mopey Alan, played by Jon Cryer…

Bill Maher – But I’m Not Wrong (DVD)

Captured in February of this year in Raleigh, North Carolina, “But I’m Not Wrong” really has Maher at eir very best. While some of this 80 minute show may seem to be treading bare ground, the skill of Maher’s craft is enough to have viewers focused in through the entirety of the DVD. It is not only eir voice that is a hit; facial mannerism and body language is linked…

Scene it? Horror HD – Or- Scream If You Want It! (iPad App)

Just in time for your Halloween party, here comes the Horror Movies version of Scene It. Scene It has a fine reputation for making quality games, whether it be the board game, or on DVD, but now they can add the iPad to their list. I have to say that I’m not a real big fan of horror flicks myself, I’m more of an action/sci-fi/romantic comedies kinda guy myself. If…

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes (Playstation 3)

I’m a big fan of Dynasty Warriors, but I feel as if the games have too much in common with each other. This means that subsequent games in the line tend to escape my notice, but that titles that look to improve on the formula are truly special. Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, and particularly the Playstation 3 version, does just that. For those that are not familiar, Sengoku Basara is…

Night Court – The Complete Fourth Season (DVD Set)

Night Court has seen another season released, this time on the Warner Archive program. At a $35 price point, the 22 episodes of the season can be seen in a way that was originally intended. While the episodes here have not been remastered in any way, the transfer that Warner has given these episodes is simply stellar. For me, Night Court really began to hit its stride beginning with this…
