I believe that the actual person that is behind the Vidal Sassoon empire has faded in the years since ey was actively changing the world of fashion. For those that do not know, Vidal Sassoon is a British hairstyler that tied architecture, art, and high fashion into specific cuts. The work that ey did 50 years ago is why Vidal Sassoon (the company) is such a large one currently – this film goes into a tremendous amount of detail into Vidal’s life and how ey broke free of the constraints that locked down hairstyling in the periods before ey made it big.
One does not even need to be a fan of Sassoon or cosmetology in general to find something to like in this DVD release; the storytelling style of this documentary ensures that viewers of all stripes will be eagerly watching this from start to end. Vidal Sassoon: The Movie showcases the spirit of change that can ensure that even the most static and unchanging fields can be flipped on their ear, just as long as there is something to push through their new vision.
This is a film about haircutting and one individual, but I believe that what is shown here should provide viewers with a proper inspiration. At some point, anyone can be a Vidal Sassoon – they just have to put in the hard work and be convincing. One can change the world merely through committing to an idea and sticking with it until the bitter or glorious end. I sincerely hope that more individuals get a chance to check out Vidal Sassoon: The Movie and to see exactly what one had to go through to get a good haircut in the sixties.
