The Dog DVD Review

Dog Day Afternoon is a movie that is perhaps one of the 50 best of all time. Viewers of the film may know that the story is adapted from real life and fewer still know the story with any sort of nuance. The Dog is a documentary that looks to go and provide further information about the unique circumstances that led to the robbing a bank and the variety of events that were discussed during Dog Day Afternoon. The film utilizes a great amount of interview and primary sources to really showcase the stranger than fiction story that occurred with John Wojtowicz. The film is interesting for those people that click on documentaries on popular video streaming websites but will also be something that fans of American history can appreciate.

The title is available from a wide array of brick and mortar and online retailers and should be purchased alongside the film to properly understand those story lines that were largely and less covered by the fell – I know that I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, a rare feat for a documentary. There are a few additional features that are provided in each DVD copy of The Dog. The release also comes with a digital HD version of the documentary, ensuring that viewers will be able to either pop the DVD in or can view it on their desktop or laptop computers.  The audio commentary that is laid down provides ample information that was not given proper time during the feature – the sheer amount of information that is provided by the director could very well fill a follow up to this documentary. The Dog is a must purchase for anyone that has seen Dog Day Afternoon or is a fan of true crime documentaries in the slightest.
