‘Until We Are Together’ finds Johnson and Faria journeying into the moodier shades of house and nu-disco. Taking inspiration from artists like Larry Heard, Frankie Knuckles, Kevin Saunderson, Todd Terje, Maurice Fulton, Kevin Yost and even Pink Floyd, the pair crafts a pulsing collection of infectious, heady and sensuous late night grooves laced with plaintive and spacey, soulful vocals.
The five-track EP kicks off with the deliciously deep lead single ‘Tribute’ (a nod to Frankie Knuckles and the Chicago house music pioneers, released in the fall, that was championed by influential DJs like Mark Knight, Soul Clap, Larry Heard, Horse Meat Disco, Francois K. and Plastic Plates, among many others) before gliding into the buoyant, cosmic disco workout “Paper Plane” and pumping Inner City influenced floor-filler “Demand You”. It closes with the sultry, ‘80s R&B tinged “Secrets” (featured on the Soul Clap compilation ‘Dancing On The Charles’ Vol. 2) and meditative stargazer “In Your Eyes”.
Nightriders offer up something for everyone to dig into and bliss-out on. From house heads of all ages to fans of indie and nu-disco, ‘Until We Are Together’ delivers a soul-satisfying suite of toe-tapping, modern and classic vibes equally suited for home, car, lounge or club listening.

Nightriders, a Boston-based house/nu-disco duo made up of Matt Johnson and Joe Faria, have been around since 2004, when they met by chance at Boston superclub Avalon. This friendship grew out of a mutual love for ‘70s prog-rock, ‘80s R&B and dance (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Brothers Johnson and Marshall Jefferson) and the modern styles of Daft Punk, Groove Armada, Sebastian Tellier, Jamiroquai, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Air, and Royksopp. This ultimately led to them establishing themselves as versatile house music producers with a fluid sound that zigzagged across genres; from french nu-disco, to house, and back through to electronica with ease. From 2006 to 2011, the pair released a steady stream of successful releases on Aphrodisio. System Recordings and their own OMG! Recordings imprint and gained massive support from artists such as Dirty Vegas, Roger Sanchez, Kerri Chandler, Chris Lake, Andy Caldwell and Dennis Ferrer.
They went on hiatus in late 2011. During that time, Johnson continued working under various monikers (including Heartache, Screwface Johnson and Emjae), maintained a residency at Boston’s infamous club Rise and established himself as an in-demand remixer delivering fiery club mixes for Yoko Ono, Pet Shop Boys, Don Diablo, The Pussy Cat Dolls, Bad Boy Bill, Vanessa Daou, Sander Kleinenberg and, most recently, Delerium.
The duo re-emerged in 2014 with a more textural and dynamic, mature sound highlighted on ‘We Were All Alone’, which was released in partnership with New York-based indie, KID Recordings.
