THE BEVIS FROND/Fraudband – Split LP

THE BEVIS FROND/Fraudband – Split LP

Fraudband is a band from Melbourne, Australia; the act has released an album in September of last year with two EPs released before that. A split EP with Bevis Frond has just been released on Kasumuen Records.

You confuse me starts off with a powerful guitar distortion and a set of drums that challenge preconceived notions about proper time signatures; this effort is complex and fulfilling from the onset. The intensity of this composition is amazing; the sleek profile that Fraudband create here is fantastic. Fans of punk, indie rock, and psychedelic rock will be able to find something that they can appreciate during Fraudband’s side of the split.

"Losing It" by Fraudband from Kasumuen Records on Vimeo.

Losing it begins with a bit of surf rock-inspired guitar, adding hints of a dusty, desert rock-type of sound. Fraudband create a raw and passion sort of rock that feels influenced by San Francisco punk acts like The Dead Kennedys. The band is tremendously skilled in creating a narrative through the interactions of the guitars and drums, the raw passion of Losing it ebbing and flowing over the course of the track. The momentum continues to build, threatening that the recording will yield way to pure chaos; Fraudband is talented enough to keep all instruments contributing to a singular goal.

Many artists tend to struggle conveying any sort of message with their lyrics and music, but Fraudband are able to tell volumes based on the arrangements that are laid down here.

The BEVIS FROND/Fraudband – Split LP is available for $30 AUD (plus applicable shipping) from Kasumuen. Check out the Fraudband Facebook for more information about new tunes and live dates and the Kasumuen domain to purchase this split release. Here’s to hoping we can hear more from Fraudband in 2017.
