Learning about cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) can be a fun experience.  At the same time, I think many people don’t fully understand the obvious differences when it comes to CBD and THC and how or if it can alter a person’s state of mind.

CBD comes in many different forms. The most popular recently has been CBD Vape Juice. One Los Angeles based company called Hot Juice claims to have developed a CBD vape Juice that contains zero THC. As someone who has been vaping for the last seven years, I thouroughly find that fascinating. If you click here, you can see all of the various flavors of CBD vape oil they offer. It’s quite interesting.

As we start digging into the industry, it can get confusing. You will find that two compounds share similar properties but still have unique effects on one’s body.

To begin, the difference between cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabinoids can be very confusing to people.

It may help to start with the fact that cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid.  Check out this great fact sheet on cannabinoids I found.  Both the hemp plant and the marijuana plant contain various cannabinoids.

It’s the marijuana plant that we will focus on today because it contains both CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).  But CBD does not produce the “high” that THC does.

This is also where all of the controversies in the industry lies. Therefore, let’s break it all down in this article and find out the facts about CBD Oil and getting high.

Does CBD Get You High – A Brief Look At Hemp And Marijuana

Hemp plants and marijuana plants both come from the species Cannabis Sativa L.  It’s the chemical properties of the compounds in the plants and the way that they are used that makes the difference.

The Hemp plant contains a very small amount of THC and large amounts of CBD.  When harvested, you are harvesting them for their seeds and fiber mainly from the stalk. Hemp’s commercial uses range from clothes, paper, textiles,  food items, biofuels and much more.

Marijuana plants tend to be shorter and wider, and the THC comes from the flower tops and the leaves. Because of the shorter stance, farmers want their plants to have as much room as possible to grow to get the biggest plants possible and the greatest yields.

When it comes to marijuana, it can be used recreationally or medically.  We will cover more of that below.

The bottom line is that CBD oil will not get you high because it simply does not contain THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient that creates that “high” feeling.

And when it comes to hemp products, United States law states that it must not contain more than .03% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in their products.  So any food items you buy or oils will not affect you in any way.

So does CBD get you high? The simple answer is no.

CBD Oil High – Medical Marijuana And The Controversy

If you start reading up on the subject of medical marijuana, you will quickly see all of the debate among doctors, users, non-users, and the government.   Most of the controversy centers around CBD oil high, and it’s misconceptions.

Even though there have been numerous studies done on the benefits of medical marijuana such as the one seen on epilepsy patients, there is still controversy over who should be able to use it. Plus, the medical marijuana community if fighting the stigma that surrounds CBD oil.

Remember, THC is the compound that produces the “high” and CBD does not. They both are extremely similar in their genetic makeup, but one has psychoactive properties, and the other does not. A CBD oil high is just not physically possible.

It’s almost like splitting hairs, but it’s the most important component of the entire argument.  Your non-users I suspect won’t understand these important differences, which is why they easily pass judgment on medical marijuana users.

CBD Oil can be taken in a variety of different ways including capsule form, vaping (a combination of CBD Oil and CBD Vape Juice for flavor) and other edibles sold at dispensaries.

Even though CBD oil products are legal, the actual Cannabis plant is not.  The only way that you can acquire a license to own the plants is for medical purposes.

Does CBD Give You A Body High – The Difference Between CBD And THC

It’s important to talk about the differences between CBD and THC because this will help us answer the question of – Does CBD give you a body high?

Let’s start with tetrahydrocannabinol or better know as THC.  What is THC anyways?  Well, to put it in the simplest terms, THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that gives you that “high” feeling.

It can have some minor side effects, but consumers don’t mind because THC can have positive health effects as well.  There have been several medical studies done regarding the benefits of THC.

THC is just one of over 400 various compounds found in marijuana.  And it’s this compound that gives the most pleasure but can also be dangerous if not used properly. Since it is a mind-altering compound, it affects the parts of your brain that have to do with movement, concentration, and coordination.

At the same time, there have been studies that show it helps people who have epilepsy, PTSD, anxiety and depression, and even chronic pain.

Shifting gears to CBD, CBD can be extracted from both the hemp plant and marijuana plant.  When it comes from the hemp plant, it’s already naturally low in THC, because the hemp plant contains little to no THC naturally.

Conclusion

With everything written in this article,  I hope it helped you to understand the differences between CBD and THC and whether you can get high from CBD oil.  I encourage you to continue to research the subject and learn more about the industry so you can make smart consumer decisions no matter what route you choose to go.
