Prescription Medication that Might Actually Prolong the Effects of Botox

Despite it being uncommon in the past, using Botox has become one of the most common treatments nowadays. It made its way from being only used in beautification operations, to being used for various purposes. In fact, it is actually effective in doing its job of relaxing the body. The downside, however, is that there is a time limit for the effects of Botox; three to six months is the usual time it takes for muscles to overcome the effects.

This is why most people look for ways to prolong the effects of the chemical for as much as possible. While most people try things like, abstaining from the sun, or rubbing their faces for a while, they forget that there’s a simpler solution. There is a prescription medication which has been developed in order to perform that exact same function. Since, this sounds too good to be true, we have decided to gather as much information as possible about the medication.

Here is what we have come up with:

What is it made of?

The medication is called Zytaze; it’s a food supplement that can only be obtained through a prescription. Its main components are Zinc Citrate, and Phytase. These two main ingredients work together to increase the longevity of the effects of Botox. Now, we know that zinc citrate is basically a source of zinc which happens to be a necessary element for increasing the effectiveness of botulinum toxin; also known as, Botox. Phytase, on the other hand, is not a chemical; but an enzyme. Like any enzyme, its job is mainly breaking down the components in the digestive tract. To be more specific, its job is to break down phytates; a class of compounds which groups together zinc particles. This makes it harder for the body to absorb zinc particles. Phytase helps combat phytates.

How does it work?

It doesn’t take much to deduct that the mode of operation of the medication has something to do with zinc; yet, in order to better understand how it works, you need to know how Botox works in the first place. As we have mentioned in the paragraph above, the actual chemical name for Botox is Botulinum toxin; it is a paralytic agent. Granted, this sounds kind of terrifying, but, fully understanding how Botox works will make you feel better. What it does is that it targets the nerves responsible for controlling muscle actions; it simply relaxes the contracted, overworked muscles.

These days, Botox is used to treat any condition related to muscle spasms which means, anything from eye muscle spasms to problems with the bladder can be treated using Botox. Here is where Zytaze comes in. According to several experiments, particles from the botulinum toxin need to be paired with zinc particles so as to reach maximum effectivity. What Zytaze does is that it works on two levels; it provides an extra amount of zinc to the body, all the while, promoting its absorption in the intestines. So, by doing that, Zytaze helps Botox reach its full potential in terms of effectiveness, as well as, duration.

Are there any natural substitutes to Zytaze?

At this point, most people would be asking one question, “So, why not take zinc supplements, or even eat zinc-rich foods?” Well, there’s a simple reasoning actually as to why most guides on how to make Botox last longer don’t contain that step. With supplements, it is extremely unhealthy to consume more than the recommended dosage as it can lead to serious damages; too much zinc can cause a series of side-effects. Nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, are all expected with these cases.

In addition, consuming zinc-rich foods like whole grains and legumes happens to be of little benefit; most foods containing zinc, also contain phytates. As for phytase, exceeding the recommended dosage of supplements can easily result in a sharp decrease in the numbers of phytates; meaning, the body will be free to absorb zinc without any limits. This, needless to say, brings us back to the main point which is that a zinc overdose is harmful to the body.

How should you use Zytaze?

The main reason Zytaze is a prescription medication goes back to it being meant to be used under medical supervision; it is absolutely not recommended that you “get creative” with the dosages. While there are no specific side-effects known to Zytaze, the pills tend to interact with other chemical substances within the body. So, if you are going to be taking other medications along with Zytaze, make sure to tell your doctor. Other than that, it is quite simple. Four days before your Botox injection, you just need to start taking 2 pills a day until you get through the procedure. One thing to keep in mind is that, if you happen to be taking other medications or supplements, you should wait for, at least, two hours before taking your Zytaze capsules.

Is there any academic proof of its effectivity?

Despite providing logical data, it is quite normal for you to still have doubts regarding the effectivity of a medication such as, Zytaze. So, for further reassurance, you can take into consideration the fact that several researchers from Baylor college of Medicine performed an experiment where they studied the effect of increasing zinc levels on the efficiency of botulinum toxins. The participants were people who have been previously subjected to Botox, Dysport, or Myobloc, as part of a regular treatment. By the end of the study, the researchers stated that over 80% of the participants exposed to zinc and phytase, have expressed feeling increased effects. Not to mention, 92% of the participants reported the effects lasting for a longer duration than their usual.

In the light of what has been said, it is important that you stick to the guidelines for using the supplement; it is necessary that you inform your doctor of any allergies or specifications before you start taking any medication. Another thing is that if you don’t feel comfortable taking medications with Botox, there are always serums, and more natural options you can go with that are capable of making the effects of botulinum toxins last longer.
