I’d like to introduce you to singer/songwriter/slack key guitarist, Makana. An innovative artist who transcends labels, Makana takes the centuries-old Hawaiian music tradition and blasts it into the 21st century.
Makana studied the ancient art under the masters, but he has developed his own visionary style. With the upcoming independent release of his high-powered fourth album, Different Game, Makana fuses his slack key guitar virtuosity (a style that sounds like three guitars in one) with elements of rock, folk, bluegrass and blues—all within poignant, original message songs.
Makana was nominated for a Grammy in 2006 for his contribution to the album Hawaiian Slack Key Kings.
Makana has a devoted fan base, and with each successive year, more music fans are appreciating his universal pop-driven sensibilities and unique technique. In addition to his own headlining tours, Makana and his band have opened shows for the likes of Sting, Santana, Elvis Costello, Jason Mraz, and Raul Midon.
Currently, Makana is touring in support of Different Game.
