Nobody Can Eat 50 Eggs #31 / $2? / 28M / 445 ½ Randolph St, Meadville, PA 16335 / http://www.freewebs.com/50eggs /

Nobody Can Eat 50 Eggs has came with an issue in a very short period of time. It was only a few days ago that I last had the chance to review the zine, and this go around seems much more strong than #30. #30 was a solid read, but had a few nagging issues. This time, the issue is tied up nicely with a five-part mini-epic, “Lizard Love”, which details love found while walking someone else’s pet lizard. The bookend pieces that are the one-page “The Crocodile Man” shorts are stronger and make more sense this time than they did last issue, while there are some gems to be found during “Hunchback Intern”, “How To Trap Bigfoot”. The existential musings that are present during “What A Goon Thinks” is a little slow, but this perhaps has to be the one “average” piece in an issue that strikes time and time again with strong pieces. Of course, this issue will be flying off the shelves as the color scheme that Steiner used for the front cover just pops like so many of the old comics do. The blend of dark blue and almost an orange-red gives individuals hope that the zine will be as strong as the cover. Luckily, Steiner makes sure that no one is disappointed; this is perhaps the strongest effort to come from Meadville in recent memory. Make sure to throw Steiner a few bucks at the address above, and I’m sure that ey will be able to stick some copies of this comic/zine/MAD-hybrid in the mail.
