Like the restless lupine performer he is, Sea Wolf has been traveling across the country since the release of his beautifully brooding debut, LEAVES IN THE RIVER (Dangerbird Records) and will be embarking on his first national headlining tour. This jaunt, which kicks off May 17 in Tucson, follows a second run supporting Nada Surf, a tour with labelmates Silversun Pickups and a stop at SXSW. The month-plus journey will take them through the U.S and Canada, with support provided by Brooklynites The Jealous Girlfriends.
Sea Wolf magnificently brings his gypsy-infused depictions to life at each spirited show and the rapidly growing attendance is proof positive. The shows have continued to garner praise while ALTERNATIVE PRESS featured the prolific songwriter in its annual “100 Bands You Need to Know” issue. Meanwhile, the AUSTIN CHRONICLE singled the band out of thousands in their SXSW coverage.
The infectiously upbeat, standout album track, “Black Dirt,” will impact radio April 14, followed by an accompanying video. Returning to his literary roots, Sea Wolf has penned the track “Song of the Magpie” for Augusten Burroughs’ audio book, “A Wolf at the Table: A Memoir of My Father,” due April 29. The interpretation of Burroughs’ intriguing narrative will be included alongside exclusive songs by Patti Smith, Tegan Quinn (Tegan and Sarah) and Ingrid Michaelson, as well as an emotional reading of the novel by Burroughs himself.
