The Bleep Subway Comic / $1.50 / :05 / 17M / 2004 Blaire Miltenberger / [email protected] /

Another grab from Slacker in Pittsburgh; for a $1.50 comic, there are a lot of features (spiral-bound, full color). Anyways, The Bleep Subway Comic is a computer-generated comic about Bleep, a round figure that looks similar to Glop and Gleep, albeit with a Mohawk, red hoodie, and book bag. The style of art is very distinct, and while things are computer animated, things – such as the walls in the subway or the interplay between the text and the art itself – are extremely well done. The story itself is told through the rambling, stream of consciousness style of Blaire (as seen through Bleep). Essentially, this character starts listening to PJ Harvey, daydreams, and thinks that the subway is filling up with water. After realizing that this is not the case, the comic ends. I mean, simple enough concept and it has a decent conclusion. However, the minor grammatical (put’s, day dream) errors in this issue are a mite annoying. This is again not a major thing, and I’d like to see more in the way of material by Blaire. I understand this is 2004, but looking around, I can’t find anything more comic-wise by Blaire. There’s a Facebook, but that’s about it. Try to contact Blaire if this type of comic sounds interesting to you; I see some definite talent in terms of art, but would like to see where Blaire can go if someone else was writing the story.
