You may (or may not) notice the catalog number on this is Sheath016, while our most recent release was actually Sheath025. Well, here’s the story behind this release: the catalog number for this one was actually assigned about two years ago, when we were beginning work on the early-mid teen catalog numbers. The original band that was supposed to be on this 7″ needed a second band to do a split with, because they only had one unreleased song recorded… and we wanted to put it out for them since we’d already released an awesome two song 7″ by them from the same recording session. So we had to wait until one of the other bands on the label had a new song that they would want to share on a split.

After talking to the Giants dudes when they went through Cincinnati and did a show back in January ’09, they said they would be stoked to do it. So it looked like we were all set with the line-up, we just had to wait for their song to be recorded and then get this thing out. However, while Giants were getting their song recorded, we seemingly lost contact with the original band that the split was intended for and all communication with them ceased. So when Giants delivered their righteous track to us around the end of the summer in 2009, we were essentially right back in the same spot we started in, but with Giants being the band waiting for a split partner instead.

Well, everything happens for a reason and this one sure did freakin’ work out for the best because after a few emails and phone calls to some of the other bands during the spring of ’10, Beware of Safety said they had a song they’d written between the writing sessions for their next full length and would love for it to be used on a split with their homies in Giants. So they gave it a proper recording and delivered it to us this fall and this split 7″ was finally conceived. Then we started all the work on mastering/artwork/production, etc.

So anyway, that’s the story – maybe you care or maybe you stopped reading a while ago =) But the point is that it’s taken over two years since the time the original ideas were expressed for this 7″ in the autumn of 2008 with a different band, but 016 is fiiiiiiiinally seeing the light of day and we COULD NOT be happier about the way it worked out <3 Like we said, everything happens for a reason, and it usually ends up for the best. So here's the best split 7" ever by two instrumental bands. Don't believe us? Fair enough... but you're definitely an idiot. Check out the deetz peepz: "The long awaited split 7" featuring brand new songs by GIANTS and BEWARE OF SAFETY. This is the first new material by either band in over two years... and it was so freakin' worth the wait! One song by each band, both tracks were mastered by Jeff Reeves at Masterdisk NYC. Artwork and screenprinting handled by Three Bears Design's Charlie Wagers and all hand-numbered (red: #401-500, green: #201-400, blue: #1-200). Sooo, as you can see there are three different colors to choose from, as well as a package deal for all three colors. Each vinyl color's jacket corresponds with that color of vinyl (red vinyl = red jacket, etc.) We'll have 100 copies of "Wild Cherry" (translucent red), 200 copies of "Blu-Rasberry" (translucent blue), and 200 copies of "Limeade" (yup, translucent green). Each copy has a hand screenprinted cover with glow in the dark ink! These are printed on thick stock French Paper with the vinyl inserted into a thick black paper inner sleeve. Stick all that into a sturdy polybag and you've got a little bundle of beauty =) Yup, no jivin'. Get you some or become an eBay hater later"
