Over the past five years Governors Ball has conquered a notoriously difficult market for music festivals, survived a historic tropical storm, and grown from a one day event to a three day affair to emerge as one of North America’s most revered music festivals. Governors Ball recently took home honors as Consequence of Sound‘s 2014 “Festival of the Year”, while The New York Times declared Governors Ball “A festival with a New York heart.” Rolling Stone also announced the festival’s ascendance, proclaiming “Governors Ball Blows Up” while praising last summer’s epic sold-out event. “It’s been a long time since the East Coast had a truly awesome festival — but New York’s Governors Ball finally pulled it off.”
“We’re thrilled to announce the 2015 lineup for Gov Ball, which we feel is our strongest yet,” says Jordan Wolowitz, a partner at Founders Entertainment. “This June will be a celebration of our 5th anniversary as NYC’s premier music festival. We would like to send our most sincere thanks to the fans and artists across the globe that have helped make Gov Ball what it is today, as well as to the Randall’s Island Parks Alliance, who has been an incredible partner to us over the years. See everyone June 5th! It’ll be one hell of a party.”

The coming 2015 festival will continue to build upon the scope of past years’ programming and festival layout in order to ensure maximum options for fun in a comfortable, safe, and visually entertaining environment. Governors Ball will also utilize RFID wristband technology to provide patrons with an optional cashless system at this year’s festival. The cashless system will allow patrons a quick and easy method to pay as they go for food, beer, and merch at the festival. This optional system will speed up wait time in lines, give patrons who prefer to leave their cash at home added security, and most importantly make it easier for them to focus on the music, art, food, and friends they came to the festival to enjoy.
Founders Entertainment is once again honored to invite attendees to Governors Ball’s festival grounds at Randall’s Island Park (supported, maintained and programmed by the Randall’s Island Park Alliance www.randallsisland.org). In addition to being accessible by bus, foot, bike and cab, the festival will again offer a Brooklyn shuttle service as well as ferry service from Mid-Town Manhattan to and from the festival grounds. With each subsequent year of the festival, Founders Entertainment has utilized experience and feedback from previous years to ensure transportation to and from Governors Ball is as smooth and easy as possible.
As New York natives, the partners at Founders Entertainment are not only honored to have Governors Ball establish itself as a major part of NYC’s vibrant cultural fabric, but also as a positive contributor to the local economy and community. Last year, the festival hired hundreds of local residents from East Harlem and the South Bronx, partnered with dozens of local NYC food vendors, and made significant contributions to the Mayor’s Fund in support of the victims of the East Harlem building explosion and Answer the Call, the NY Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund. An economic impact study of Governors Ball 2014 found the festival generated $40 million in economic benefits for New York City. More than 300 new jobs were created and $20 million in wages were earned. Many of the jobs and economic benefits were created in the East Harlem and South Bronx communities, which surround Randall’s Island.
