There are a lot of fun things coming out from Durango, Colorado’s own Ska Brewing. A new effort from the brewery is their Prickly Pear Sour. Available in cans, the brew pours with a brownish-pinkish coloration and just the lightest in the white of light head. The depth of the flavors here provide Ska’s Prickly Pear Sour with a leg up on a great many other sours we’ve had the chance to sample over the years. While sours typically hammer home a very tart or hay-like quality, there’s a sense with Ska’s Prickly Pear Sour that you will get a different collection of flavors with each and every sip. The cohesion of the Prickly Pear Sour ensures that more of the focused flavors encountered during one’s experience with the sour do not fall apart as the beer gradually begins to warm.

I’d strongly recommend the beer even to those individuals that typically shy away from anything that has the “sour” designation. By creating this even-keeled brew, Ska has ensured that there’s something presence for those fans of golden ales, pilsners, and lagers just as much as for those individuals that want nothing less than a Warhead-like sloughing effect occuring to their taste buds with each and every sip.

We’ve been fortunate enough to experience other Ska efforts over the years, including their BHC DIPA. We also dropped information about Ska’s collab with Proximity Malt, the Green Silo Saison. Drop a comment on this post if you have had any experience with the Prickly Pear Sour or other beers canned (or on draft) from Ska.
