Grandpa’s Ghost is a touching effort that needs little more to start than Roger Jaeger’s voice and guitars. The song gradually picks up in momentum before settling into a sort of Mumford and Sons meets The Lumineers type of style. The reverence for one’s family is the guiding principle of the song, showcasing that life itself may be similar no matter where one finds themselves in time. The distinct sections of Grandpa’s Ghost do well in keeping the song interesting and engrossing from the first note until the time when Jaeger chooses to wind the track down. Carefully constructed at all points, Grandpa’s Ghost is another success for this skilled performer.
