With passion for bass and a thirst for blood, DROP THE LIME weaves a baroque nighttime fantasy, riding the range from the ashes of rave into the dark heart of rock & roll on his debut album ENTER THE NIGHT, due out tomorrow, July 3 on Ultra Music. Leading up to its release, AOL is hosting a listening party for the album now through Monday, July 9. Log on and listen to the album here: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/spinner#/5
As influenced by Ritchie Valens as Richie Hawtin, NYC-based singer-songwriter, producer and DJ DROP THE LIME’s music (like his life) is an epic adventure of mystery, heartbreak and magic, combining the gun-slinging swagger of Ennio Morricone, the techno grandeur of Underworld and the storytelling prowess of Johnny Cash. The cuts on ENTER THE NIGHT—written and recorded between his Brooklyn home base, London and New Orleans—evoke an outlaw spirit with a modern twist that finds DROP THE LIME, born Luca Venezia, marrying his blues guitar licks and unmistakably sultry croon to the sheer dance music wizardry that has become his trademark.
Singles from the album include “Bandit Blues” and the upcoming “Darkness,” due out in August. There are also covers of Stan Jones’ legendary “(Ghost) Riders In the Sky” (with Duane Eddy guitar twang) and Springsteen’s “State Trooper.”
