Drag City Incorporated Creates Language of Stone Label

DRAG CITY INCORPORATED is pleased to announce the launch of the Language Of Stone label, helmed by Greg and Jessica Weeks (Espers, Woodwose, et al). The label is based in Philadelphia with manufacturing and distribution handled by DragCity.

 Language of Stone will launch September 2007 with debut long players from two very fine artists: Orion Rigel Dommisse “What I Want From You Is Sweet” (LOS 001) and Mountain Home Mountain Home (LOS 002). Both records are splendid examples of why the concept of the “album” still matters. These full lengths were recorded and mixed to entirely analog formats (at Greg’s Hexham Head studio) with nary a digital processor involved until mastering. Says Greg: “Language of Stone doesn’t frown on digital formats, nor do we raise our noses at the valuable nature of digital technology. We do, however, emphasize the human element above all else.”

 This fact carries through every aspect of the label’s mission, Along with giving credence to important artists, emergent and otherwise, they strive to support honesty, community, the fair deal, and the fragile concept of career musician.

  Language of Stone’s staff comprises Jessica Weeks as Head Officer and Greg Weeks in charge of A&R. Jessica is a member of Woodwose, The Valerie Project, La Secta and Grass. Greg is a producer and engineer and performer — founder of The Valerie Project, a member of Espers, La Secta, Grass, and has released five solo albums since 1996. He is owner/operator of Hexham Head studios, a 24 track analog recording facility located in Philadelphia, PA.
