The Amazing’s latest track “Gone:” http://pitchfork.com/news/48139-the-amazing-featuring-members-of-dungen-share-black-and-white-video-for-gone/. The video, directed by Kristian Bengtsson and filmed at Atlantis Studio in Stockholm, features a song off the Swedish band’s long awaited album Gentle Stream, out October 22 onPartisan Records. Inspired by the music of the 60s and 70s Laurel Canyon community, Q Magazine calls Gentle Stream, “a gorgeously understated blend of gentle psychedelic pop, tranquil folk rock and gently stoned prog.” The Amazing will kick off a nationwide tour with Tame Impala this fall and will also be headling the Mercury Lounge on November 5; please see reverse for complete track listing and tour dates.
Gentle Stream is The Amazing’s first official U.S. release. KCRW recenlty named the band an “Artist You Should Know,” and Spin premiered Gentle Stream’s title track: http://www.spin.com/articles/amazing-announce-us-debut-lp-gentle-stream-share-gorgeous-title-track. The second single from the album, “Flashlight,” premiered at Paste: http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2012/09/song-premiere-the-amazing—flashlight.html.
Gentle Stream was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden at Fashionpolice Studios and self-produced by the band. The Amazing is comprised of singer-songwriter Christoffer Gunrup, Reine Fiske of acclaimed neo-psych group Dungen, Fredrik Swahn, Alexis Benson and lauded jazz drummer Moussa Fadera. Christoffer Gunrup says, “One of the things I have come to enjoy playing with the others is never telling them what’s going on, what I want. It means that when we record I simply start playing something, usually without the melody, and hopefully they somehow play the way I feel.” The group recently appeared on the top-rated Swedish television program “Nyhetsmorgon” to play several of the songs from the new record.
