Burgeoning hip-hop label Man Bites Dog Records is proud to announce the label’s first ever Official SXSW Showcase. The showcase will take place on Wednesday, March 13th, from 8:00pm – 2:00am, at The Jr. Headliners for the show include Roc Marciano, Copywrite, and Eddie B & Harry Fraud, and joining the bill is the full label roster, with performances scheduled from Bronze Nazareth, Wais P, Double AB & Dub Sonata, Hayze, Curly Castro, Spit Gemz, Snak The Ripper, and Playdough. As an official SXSW-sponsored showcase all badge and wristband holders will be admitted for free.
As the first official showcase for the label, it’s an historic moment for Man Bites Dog Records, and so it’s only right for the label to celebrate the moment by giving fans a night full of music that shows off the entirety of what Man Bites Dog Records brings to the table. “The strength of our line up is in the sound; all of these artist’s their sound meshes so well with one another, its a fantastic playlist unfolding in front of you live,” says label founder R.M.L. “And the showcase is a great opportunity to open our fans up to the new artists that we’re starting to work with.”
As an extra special treat, Man Bites Dog Records will give away a special SXSW Survival Kit to the first 200 fans that arrive at the venue. Not only does the SXSW Survival Kit come equipped with SXSW essentials like sun screen, beef jerky, and energy drinks, but the kit, which comes in a special Man Bites Dog DJ tote bag, also includes a number of limited edition, SXSW-only cassettes, including Eddie B & Harry Fraud’s Horse Power EP, Hayze’s The Smoker’s Section mixtape, Curly Castro’s FIDEL album, Wais P’s PV$$Y RICH mixtape. Also included will be the cassette-only release of Copywrite’s new LP, Carbon Copy Phony Art Pub Scam, which Copy will also be performing live at the showcase. “So many people spend so much money to take the pilgrimage to SXSW,” says R.M.L., speaking on what inspired the Surival Kits. “From MBDR-branded beer koozies and bottle openers, to tasty beef jerky from Krave, to the custom Surf School shot glass to the exclusive cassette tapes to the special MBDR tot bag that everything comes in – we wanted to help to make sure the experience is memorable.”
