The Bangles – Return to Banglelonia

The Bangles – Return to Banglelonia / 2007 Shout Factory / 95 Minutes / The Bangles were very influential, with The Runaways, in creating a lot of the female punk music that took over during the nineties and today. This video captures a later version of The Bangles, being that of a live show from 2000 at the House of Blues in Hollywood. Every one of the band’s biggest hits…

Dischange – Seeing Feeling Bleeding [ADB]

15 songs on Nuclear Blast America in 1993. Being from Nuclear Blast, you would expect death metal. Dischange is metal, but with a killer hardcore/punk thing going on. They have the slow guitars of metal, the speedy drums of punk, and half-mushy vocals and short songs. Another great moshing band and they are also a 4 piece band. Some of the songs are very political in nature, but it is…

Soulja Boy – Soulja Girl (Feat. I15)

Soulja Boy – Soulja Girl (Feat. I15) / 2007 TVT / 2 Tracks / “Soulja Girl” is the latest track by (you guessed it) Soulja Boy. In an attempt to further get the name of I-15 out to the masses, they are featured on the track. This track is a slower, more grind-worthy track. Hints of Jodeci and K-Ci and Jojo are present during this track, even as the more…

Dead Flower Bloom – S/T [ADB]

1995, on their own label. They can be emailed at StevenDFB@aol.com or called at (614) 341 7423. This tape is a 3 song demo, and the band may have a full album out by now. When i got this tape, I thought a band with the name “Dead Flower Bloom” would definitely be a death rock band. This is a very diverse band, with bits of Korn-Sound, 80’s rock, Indy…

Megadeth – Warchest

Megadeth – Warchest / 2007 Capitol / 66 Tracks / http://www.megadeth.com / http://www.capitolrecords.com / Megadeth is one of the bands that I first learned about when I got into metal. In fact, one of the CDs that has stuck with me for over a decade (the only other one is Marilyn Manson’s “Antichrist Superstar”) is Megadeth’s “Rust in Peace”. It makes sense that Megadeth should get a box set since…

Crass – Christ the Album [ADB]

This is a 2 cd set (1 Studio/1 Live) with a 40 Song set list. This is amazing punk from the late 70s and early 80s that successfully blended real Oi!, Gothic, and Noise, to make an amazing album. This is great pissed off/piss drunk punk that you can go wild to. If more pop punk bands would take Crass’es example, then punk music wouldn’t be full of the shitheads…
