It’s almost impossible to find a modern day hard rock/heavy metal band that doesn’t list Thin Lizzy as an influence. So the band couldn’t have picked a better time to launch an arena tour, opening for Judas Priest on their farewell “Epitaph Tour.” Comprised of a kick ass line-up featuring such Phil Lynott-era Lizzies as guitarist Scott Gorham, drummer Brian Downey, and keyboardist Darren Wharton, as well as Guns N’…
All Time Low are preparing to hit the road for the “Gimme Summer Ya Love” Tour in support of the band’s recently released album, Dirty Work. All Time Low will be joined by bands such as The Starting Line, Cartel, The Cab and more. Sheryl Crow has been around for a number of years, but to be honest, I never understood all of eir allure. It is really after watching Miles From Memphis that I have begun to realize exactly how talented ey is. Sheryl Crow’s performance of a number of eir classics – . There are a few bonus features here that further increase the “must-have” quotient of the DVD. Aside from soundcheck…

I always thought that the CDs that were put out by Starbucks’ Hear Music were just normal retail versions of CDs, and in the odd case that they created an album, that it would be a greatest hits album that was reordered. However, they have done a tremendous service to fans with the release of two two-CD sets in their re-release of Paul McCartney’s 1970 and 1980 solo albums. The…
All Tiny Creatures and their debut album Harbors, released by Hometapes this Spring, continue to come alive: on the road, on the turntable, and now, in moving pictures. Hometapes received this meditation on Japan’s urban landscape just weeks after the earthquake and tsunami sent the country into chaos. Set to All Tiny Creatures’ “An Iris,” the single featuring the vocals of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), and incorporating the blue orbs…
Ray Griggs attempts to show with I Want Your Money how exactly the different political parties view their relationship with their citizenry. Using speeches from Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama, there are a number of differences that are shown. While there is a full hour and a half to this DVD, I still feel as if there could have been more coverage presented. What results in I Want Your Money…

City Center has just released their first full-length album on K Records in “Redeemer”, and there seems to be a certain spring in the band’s step that is noticeable on the disc’s introductory track, “Puppers”. The band works towards the creation of an album rather than the furtherance of a few key singles. This means that there are considerable nods towards other efforts on the same album during cuts like…
The recording of Dark Mean’s debut album began sometime in 2007. During this period band members Mark Dean, Billy Holmes, and Sandy Johnston released two “work in progress” EPs without expectation. Little did they know Frankencottage and Music Box would become quite well received in the blogging community, downloaded in over 100 countries, lectured upon by a music professor in Brazil, and find the band rousing audiences into massive sing-alongs…
I was a little antsy when I learned that A&E was branching off into drama rather than continuing to solely focus on reality television shows. The Glades premiered last year, and ties together a number of up and coming actors with established television personas. Matt Passmore plays Detective Jim Longworth, a transplant to the area from the Windy City. Longworth takes a position at the FDLE – the Florida Department…

It is rare to view a film that has so many nods to different genres. In the case of Payton Collins Serial Rapist, director Toby Ross is able to blend horror, thriller, and erotic elements into what ey calls darkotica. It is this ability to move seamlessly through these different genres is why the film becomes inviting, but the roles turned in by the different members of the cast is…

Humans beware; the most putridly progressive and wildly warped split release of the year is upon us! A total head-to-head freakout-fest featuring two of New Jersey’s premiere tech-prog-psycho metal acts, EL DRUGSTORE and A FUCKING ELEPHANT, the split EP was recently completed and will ooze into the public on July 26, in both CD and digital formats. This will be the maiden voyage for newly formed Nefarious Industries, a label…
SEVENDUST was forced to cut their current European tour short over the weekend due to circumstances beyond their control. The trek was scheduled to conclude June 24 in Madrid. They’re deeply apologetic to their international fans and hope to see them very soon. The band will be regrouping for their forthcoming U.S. headlining tour—along with Adelitas Way, Emphatic and Violence To Vegas–which launches July 7 in Cedar Rapids before heading…
