All Tiny Creatures and their debut album Harbors, released by Hometapes this Spring, continue to come alive: on the road, on the turntable, and now, in moving pictures. Hometapes received this meditation on Japan’s urban landscape just weeks after the earthquake and tsunami sent the country into chaos. Set to All Tiny Creatures’ “An Iris,” the single featuring the vocals of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), and incorporating the blue orbs that first made their appearance in the band’s press photo, we were moved by the video’s playfulness and the otherworldliness (two words that surely describe All Tiny Creatures). But this was more than a study in shape, color, and mood — inseparable from the video is the place it was made and the friends that made it.
