The Charlestons, Tripping Linda, CFD, Levi, Love and Squalor @ The Desert Rose, Lancaster, Ohio (December 27th, 2003)

Searching around the local bands’ websites in my spare time during the last few weeks of college, I found various hints of a big show happening the 27th at the one sleazy bar at the edge of town. The bar’s main claim to fame were their teen nights, smoke-filled affairs that brought together 10-12 year olds trying to pretend they were 16 and 45 year old lechers who think they…

Tight Pants #10

While I have been a fan of the other Tight Pants zine (being The World Would Be A Better Place If Everyone Wore Tight Pants), I hadn’t gotten a chance to go and read Tight Pants until I saw a copy for sale at Boxcar Books. After picking it up, it was definitely worth my buck. While all of the fonts that Maddy uses are just windows system-type of fonts,…

Dressy Bessy Drop First Single “Simple Girlz”, Holler And Stomp Out September 30th On Transdreamer Records

NPR : “I think that Dressy Bessy is a far more efficient pleasure-machine than Coldplay. If Chris Martin’s voice is earnest and thoughtful, Tammy Ealom’s tone is every bit as knowledgable about the vagaries of love and lost and so much more varied and witty in its expression.” – Ken Tucker SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur Magazine, where he has covered…

Totally Rejected, The Hybrid, The Good Life – December 6th, 2003 @ Greencastle Indiana (JMcQ)

Well, another show was put together for Meherry Hall. Taking place during a Saturday night in which I found myself pretty busy, I was able to sneak in a small time before the show was to start. The news of the show was pretty well disseminated, with ample amounts of flyers being printed out and J.J. (The Hybrid) and Zach (The Good Life) coming on my radio show the Thursday…

Thoughtworm #10

A diary-like zine, with a style of writing that is interesting to say the least. Information is given without much in the way of rhetorical flourishes, but there just seems to be a feeling of detachment from the events of Sean s life, a feeling which never truly goes away. This is not to say that it is hard to get into the zine, but that there is a nagging…
