Troop supporters and USO enthusiasts, rock band Drowning Pool, went to Capitol Hill to campaign for ThisIsfortheSoldiers.org. While crusading for veteran mental health care, the members of Drowning Pool came across a suspicious bag atop Capitol Hill. Having just released the video for their single “Enemy,†the band is no stranger to antagonists and mystery. Watch as DP marches through Washington, DC, to team up with Barack Obama, on their…
This has 14 songs, and was released om 1993 on Relic Records, which is an Austrailian part of Projekt Records. Shinjuku Thief is an Ambient band, with their compositions painting pictures. For example in “Takkjirn”, at the beginning their is a fire cracking, and wind blows and thunder crashes. There are instrumental tracks on this album too. Shinjuku Thief can also change momentum at a moments notice. When i was…

DJ Axel – Breakin’ The Law / 2007 Holden / 15 Tracks / http://www.djaxel.com / I love mashups, and when individuals are able to make completely new albums (such as in the case of Girl Talk), the love only increases. I must admit, I had not heard much about DJ Axel in the past, although I was aware of a number of mashup albums (most famously, “The Grey Albumâ€). Anyways,…
Los Angeles psychedelic rockers Bigelf has posted its music video for the song “Pain Killers” online at this location. The hard-rockin’ track is taken from the band’s cult, underground album Hex. Recorded in 2003, Hex is available domestically for the first time ever via the Custard label and is in stores now. SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur Magazine, where he has…
The album has 8 songs, and was released in 1999 on Status Records. It cost me nothing. Out of the 8 songs on the disc, 4 are instrumental. This takes up about 23 minutes of a 42 minute disc. please note however, that the band plays some wicked indy rock with excellent bass playing, drumming and song structuring. The instrumentals are simply brilliant with a journey available in the wonderful guitar…

Paul Oakenfold – Greatest Hits & Remixes / 2007 Ultra / 20 Tracks / http://www.pauloakenfold.com / http://www.ultrarecords.com / When it comes to electronic and dance music, Paul Oakenfold is right up there (if not exceeding) individuals like the Pet Shop Boys and The Chemical Brothers. This album marks an interesting premise for a “greatest hits†compilation. Rather than just having the songs originally penned by Oakenfold (“Starry Eyed Surpriseâ€, “Ready…
Houston-based, progressively-instrumental indie rockers (phew!), Motion Turns It On are this week’s Amplifier Magazine’s “Amplified” feature artist, placing them alongside former “Amplified” artists such as The National, The Kooks and Maritime to name a few. SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur Magazine, where he has covered independent music, PC hardware, consumer tech, and gaming culture since 1998. With over 25 years of…
This has 11 songs, and it was made in 1989 on Restless Records. It cost me $7 in trade. While MDC was original and long lasting, this 7 seconds disc isn’t. The title track “Satyagratia” is a indy rock song in the vain of REM, which is not what 7 seconds is about. The songs aren’t that bad, but when i bought the album, i had expected a different sound.…

This first track…

Originally released in 1998, this album has been repressed countless time by Lookout Records. It has 26 songs, and I paid $1 for the CD. This album provides us with an insight into punk history, at a time when punk had a massive underground following but no major support. Bands such as SW, Bad Religion, Operation Ivy, and Social Distortion all provided the platform for the whole new wave of…
Netherlandian band, 5 songs, 1999, self released. All of the writing is in Dutch, so i can read much of it. Really melodic metal openings and background with a slower screeching of the lyrics. Kind of like Trans Siberian Orchestra mixed with Emperor. All of the instrument are really cohesive and professional sounding. The vocals go along well with the Nordic Metal feel. The live song on this disc isn’t…

Boy/girl – Secret Secret Secret Singles / 2007 307 Knox / 5 Tracks / http://www.307knoxrecords.com / The disc starts off with “Alcohol and certain medicationsâ€, a track that blends together more tribal, middle eastern style of music with different untraceable quotations (besides the fact that they are political in some sense). This intro works well with the rest of the EP, which turns “Secret Secret Secret Singles†into an eleven…

They can be mailed at Una McGrath, 141 Greenland Ave.,Ewing,NJ 08638. This is good rock with fast and slow parts, and goofy parts as well.
