The Gimmes are headed to Australia in January…without FAT MIKE (boo) but with MELVIN (yeah)! Here’s a photo and statement from the band… Fat Mike can’t/won’t go to Australia and New Zealand with the Gimmes in January because he misses his daughter too much and NOFX has gotten themselves so busy making their documentary, that he has been, and will continue to be, on the road part of each and…
Fader #49 / 1:30 / 180M / http://www.thefader.com / Fader has their ears to the ground when it comes to the cutting edge of independent music. This time around, they cover such soon to be superstars as Jah Cure, Simian Mobile Disco, and Band of Horses. There are a lot of advertisements in this issue, that is true, but after individuals get into the actual magazine, the amount of different…
Ghost Machine guitarist John Stevens (ex-Clay People) has revealed more details about the creation of the group’s debut album and the group’s follow-up album, which is slated for release sometime in 2008. “The entire process of the Hypersensitive album took place either in my studio at my house, except for the drums, which we needed a facility that would properly capture the drum tones. We recorded them at Assembly Line…
This album is old and indy. From 1987 on Steamhammer Records. This band is/was British and i have no info about them. The play a dirgey Iron Maiden type metal, and it sounds really good for a record i got for free in a record store down in Athens, Ohio when i was on an in the know trip. The back panel has a picture of the people in the…
Just two week after its release, THE SHAKE’s debut music video for “Manic Boogie†has hit 1,000 unique You Tube plays, surpassing the band’s expectations. Jann Klose – Beautiful Dream B/W Hold Me Down / 2007 Jann Klose / 2 Tracks / http://www.jannklose.com / Jann Klose plays an emotional brand of rock on this single that does not have a specific referent in regards to influences or styles approached. The soft style of “Beautiful Dream†will undoubtedly get individuals to focus on what Klose does and compare eir to individuals like Dave Matthews and John…

This album was released in 1998 on Ignition Records, and it has 13 songs .This band has been around for 9 years, and has been on 7 labels, including Atlantic Records. On this cd they cover a Beatles song (Cry Baby Cry). The band is a Punk/Indy Rock band with decent guitars and bass. They at times sound like Jargon, Mock Orange, The Weakerthans, and Creed. They can be reached…
Sona – Man In The Mirror / 2007 Imperial / 4 Tracks / http://www.imperial-recordz.com / I had no idea who Sona was before “Man In The Mirrorâ€, but a very nineties sound starts off “Dreamsâ€, the first of a double single captured on this CD. “Dream†shows that Sona has a Tupac like style, while the instrumentation captured as the backing beat for this track really continues this comparison. The…

This is Saliva’s 5 song demo, as so many bands are doing nowadays. Copying bands demo song # isn’t all what Saliva does. They sound like every bad alterna-rock band of the last 5 years. Even with all of that, they aren’t as bad as i mean.Their 1st song sounds like Soundgarden and Days of the New. 2nd sounds like Our Lady Peace and I mother earth. 3rd sounds like…
Instant gratification. That’s the best way to describe these monsters of rock. Going big on their masterful debut AURORA with irresistible hooks, incredible lyrics and towering riffs, every song hits hard and lingers long. Combining post-hardcore elements with tender lyrics and soaring choruses, this arena-ready wall of sound leaves no stone unturned…nothing left to be desired. SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur…
The Narrows – Benjamin / 2007 Wantage / 4 Tracks / http://www.wantageusa.com / The Narrows start off their “Benjamin†with a heavy bit of drudge and sludge, in “The Sasquatchâ€. “The Sasquatch†has much more of a pop style to it than would be present on a The End Records or Hydra Head Records band, and at points, I can hear a little bit of Audioslave present in the band’s…
Fresno, CA ain’t just the birthplace of the Sun Maid Raisin girl and Kevin Federline. It also is home to Rademacher – a quartet of musicians who have spent the past three years living on a strict DIY, van-and-sofa based touring and recording diet, a band that has shared the stage with indie luminaries like John Vanderslice, David Dondero and the Silversun Pickups. Set to unleash Stunts on December 4,…
When I bought this tape, I thought Righteous Anger would be an old local heavy metal band, but it is a weird-ass Christian band. As with all reviews, my grading is not affected by religion of the band. Framed Reality has 6 songs, and is on Little Buddy Records. The 1st two songs are songs that preach throughout the whole time, and both include the word “Jesus” in them 20…
Punahele Productions is pleased to announce the release of “Kukahi – Keali`i Reichel Live in Concert,†recorded at the Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu. The DVD features Keali`i, one of Hawai`i’s best known artists and kumu hula instructors, and his Halau Ke`alaokamaile in a musical journey of old and new favorites. The DVD begins with an elaborate Kahiko segment, celebrating Hawai`i’s pre-contact era with an exquisitely choreographed dance and chant…
Landon – Defying The Stereotype / 2006 Self / 8 Tracks / http://www.landonband.com / “Only 20†is a track that is interesting to me. The Spartan, heavily electronic style of the instrumental segment of the track is good enough, but the vocals only reach their stride when Landon moves from the spoken style of vocals to something much more singing-heavy. “Only 20†has catchy bits, but is not solid enough…
Bobaflex has just released the music video for their first single “Home†off their new album Tales from Dirt Town. Bobaflex teamed up with director Dan Dobi to film the video at the infamous Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. The band was caught on film before and during their sold-out concert on October 12th at the notorious venue and the video puts a lucid visual to their emotional song. Bobaflex’s…
This band is amazing. Just simply fucking amazing. Their music is an amalgamation of Rock, Metal, Thrash, and Goth, and it is never bogged down by crappy music. The whole CD is full of great songs, and i think ill be listening to this cd very often. I can see why this CD has sold so many copies on Resistance Records. Hopefully, these guys are still around and they will…
