This was released in 1999 on Vegas Records, and it has 14 songs. Cost to me: Free. Pain is an odd sounding band: combining Nerd Rock, Rock, and Ska to make a very catchy sound. THe vocalist sounds like the guys from They Might Be Giants, various new wave singers, and 70’s rock singers. Pain sounds like a major label band, with an extremely rich and well produced sound. It’s…

Silence Is Safety – S/T / 2007 Teeno / 7 Tracks / http://www.teenorecords.com / Silence Is Safety plays a style of rock that has not been heard on the radio for about ten years. There are hints of the Goo Goo Dolls as well as with the Spin Doctors, but the energy present during this track is high enough that individuals can get behind this female-lead band. “He Doesn’t Know

This is on NG records, and it has 10 songs. O9MM is a rock/rap metal band with a black lead singer. This is a 3 piece band with Chaka Malik on Vocals, Taylor Mcham on Guitars and Bass and Matthew Cross on Drums. The rap on this album isn’t bad because it is of the “Old Skewl”, the lyrics are well written and the guitars are well placed. They change tempos…
Middle Distance Runner – S/T / 2007 Self / 6 Tracks / http://www.middledistancerunner.com/ “The Sun and Earth†is the first track on this EP, and it starts out in a sedate way. However, the tempo is something that slowly builds up to give individuals something to get amped up with. The neat composition allow the vocals to take a focal part of the band’s sound, and while the act is…

Highly respected hard rock / metal powerhouse CLUTCH will kick off a North American co-headlining tour alongside progressive rock unit Coheed and Cambria in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The month-long trek will conclude on November 29 in NYC. Inarguably one of heavy music’s most recognizable bands, CLUTCH has constantly evolved, always set standards and never followed trends, resulting in a strong succession of first-rate, engrossing hard rock albums. Impossible to categorize,…
Chris Botti – Italia / 2007 Sony / 12 Tracks / http://www.chrisbotti.com / http://www.sony.com / Ah , Chris Botti. Before I received a copy of “Italiaâ€, I had no clue who you were. This was released in 1999 on Will Records, 8 songs, and this band is a 5 piece based in Seattle. The inside cover has a really cool looking naked punk chick in it. The band vocalist has a 80s glam sound , which is most closely related to the black crowes. The guitars are really good sounding, and the riffs are top notch. The guitarist can pull off some pretty good solos as…

John Fogerty – Revival / 2007 Fantasy / 12 Tracks / http://www.johnfogerty.com / I was never that big of a fan of Credence Clearwater Revival, but both my mother and my significant other are huge fans. What Fogerty did back in the seventies was simply not my thing, but the revival of the style, infused with a few other elements, is something much more near and dear to me. Fogerty…
