The poppy sound of Brightman’s vocals during “Probably On A Thursday†really allows eir to achieve an audience that may not have been tapped previously. In some sense, there seems to be a timeless pop sense to the tracks on “Love Changes Everything†that was most prominently shown during Cyndi Lauper’s earlier rock. The tender guitar work that wins out at times on the aforementioned “Probably On A Thursday†is…

“I saw a screening of an early cut of the film and was deeply moved,†Peacock explains. “This indie film looks great and has a very strong cast and script. But, most importantly, it communicates in real-life language and emotion to the high school audience it seeks to reach. It also has the unique ability to entertain and make viewers think. That’s why I’m involved and giving my time to…

One does not understand exactly how far Sarah Brightman has been in the music industry until they pick up a copy of “Diva: The Singles Collectionâ€. Most of the tracks on the disc fall within the two-decade block between eir Phantom of the Opera recording and the current period, so without going into multiple CDs, this disc is as full as it could possibly get. For the Brightman completist, this…
“Anjulie’s new single is as sultry as an August apartment in a power-out. Her bold vocals ride a seductive boom-bap beat, reeling in listeners with whispered sexuality.†– MTV.com “You’ll fall so easy for the talented Toronto-raised chanteuse.†– Blender If you are among the growing legions who’ve been grooving to Anjulie’s first single, “Boom†– currently #2 on the Billboard dance chart, and the lead track on her digital…

(An excerpt from the LACEY MAE Album Notes by Scott Yanow) Born in Washington D.C, she remembers that her father listened to classical radio while her mother enjoyed the music of Henry Mancini and Andre Previn. Beverly started picking out ideas on the piano from the age of three and was writing songs before she learned to read music. She began classical piano lessons when she was eight, also playing…
ApSci have never done anything the easy way. First off, they could have found collaborators in others who, well, weren’t from halfway around the world. They also could’ve simply followed the same path on Best Crisis Ever that they did on their 2005 Quannum debut, Thanks for Asking, a dark, collabo-heavy hip-hop electro album that UR Chicago named “the freshest hip-hop album that’s come out so far [that] year,†SPIN.com…
The Bright and Hollow Sky come forth with their “Gem Stateâ€, starting off their disc with “Cloudâ€. â€Cloud†takes tacks from a number of different influences, mixing together thee disaffected vocals of Conor Oberst with a tempo and quicksilver attitude that sees early-nineties pop-punk as a cousin. The next high-point of the disc comes during “Going Downâ€, which uses “Killing An Arabâ€-era Cure-like bass lines to really push forward the…

I don’t need, from you, a waterfall of careless praise, and I don’t need a trophy for all the games I’ve played. All I want is your eyes, in the morning as we wake, for a short while. I don’t need you to catch my wandering mind, and I don’t expect a southern girl to know the northern lights. All I want is your eyes, in the morning as we…
