$parechange – Has Sincerity Gone Out of Style? [ADB]

1999, Released independently, and it has 17 songs from Cantons hometown heroes that might be playing at cool and phat august 20th. Pop punk in the style of the Tirekickers, Rancid, and Smash mouth. These guys are one of the biggest bands in Northern Ohio, and should be more popular. The songs on this disc were written from 95-99 and most (8) of the songs are 2:10 to 2:23 long.…

Social Distortion – Prison Bound / Live At The Roxy [ADB]

The album has 10 bursts of music from this band on Time Bomb, originally released in 1988. SD has been around for nearly 20 years ,getting started in 1981. They cover the Rolling Stones song “Backstreet Girl”. Time Bomb was the label created by Mike Ness after they sold out to Sony. This is good, raspy 2nd wave political punk. The guitars, also by Mike Ness, are amazing. Bugjuice took…

Slush Fund – While We’re Still Ahead [ADB]

Longshot Records in 1999, with 28 songs. 5 white guys play ska-punk for 5 years, and then break up. Pretty sad. It is pretty good for a band that has 3rd wave ska influences. Slush Fund isnt a ska band, but a punk band with a trumpet. Very speed delivery of lyrics, and short songs length make this band great. Some of the guitar riffs on a few of the…

Slak – Tonight We Drink Tommorow We Dance 7 inch [ADB]

This album has 6 songs of pure punk bliss etched on this slab of vinyl. This is extremely fast punk. The songs on this disc are of such a caliber that it is impossible to not listen to. This has to be one of the best punk bands coming out of Ohio, with awesome guitars and fucking sweet bass.It has a great old late 70s style, much like the Ramones…

Sick Of It All – Just Look Around [ADB]

On Relativity Records, with 13 songs. SOIA is metal/hardcore with political lyrics. Really good sounding metal riffs, and some cool bass lines, and great drums all the way through. I compare SOIA to Exodus and Pantera and DRI. The songs on this disc are also really short, going from the longest at 3:05 to the shortest at 1:31. Most of theses songs are more metal then anything, which isn’t bad…

The Shyness Clinic – Sea of Redlights [ADB]

Released in 1998 on Espo Records. It has 12 songs, and i paid nothing for it . TSC uses interesting mixes of noise in songs like “Not if i leave first”, to make a interesting indy album . Spacy, distortion filled guitars mix with a very strong drum beat. The openings for the songs are the most interesting parts of the disc. TSC can sound extremely different from song to…

Shinjuku Thief – The Witch Hammer [ADB]

This has 14 songs, and was released om 1993 on Relic Records, which is an Austrailian part of Projekt Records. Shinjuku Thief is an Ambient band, with their compositions painting pictures. For example in “Takkjirn”, at the beginning their is a fire cracking, and wind blows and thunder crashes. There are instrumental tracks on this album too. Shinjuku Thief can also change momentum at a moments notice. When i was…

Sharks Keep Moving – S/T [ADB]

The album has 8 songs, and was released in 1999 on Status Records. It cost me nothing. Out of the 8 songs on the disc, 4 are instrumental. This takes up about 23 minutes of a 42 minute disc. please note however, that the band plays some wicked indy rock with excellent bass playing, drumming and song structuring. The instrumentals are simply brilliant with a journey available in the wonderful guitar…

7 Seconds – Soulforce Revolution [ADB]

This has 11 songs, and it was made in 1989 on Restless Records. It cost me $7 in trade. While MDC was original and long lasting, this 7 seconds disc isn’t. The title track “Satyagratia” is a indy rock song in the vain of REM, which is not what 7 seconds is about. The songs aren’t that bad, but when i bought the album, i had expected a different sound.…

Screeching Weasel – Boogadabocgadabocgada [ADB]

Originally released in 1998, this album has been repressed countless time by Lookout Records. It has 26 songs, and I paid $1 for the CD. This album provides us with an insight into punk history, at a time when punk had a massive underground following but no major support. Bands such as SW, Bad Religion, Operation Ivy, and Social Distortion all provided the platform for the whole new wave of…

Sentient – S/T Promo [ADB]

Netherlandian band, 5 songs, 1999, self released. All of the writing is in Dutch, so i can read much of it. Really melodic metal openings and background with a slower screeching of the lyrics. Kind of like Trans Siberian Orchestra mixed with Emperor. All of the instrument are really cohesive and professional sounding. The vocals go along well with the Nordic Metal feel. The live song on this disc isn’t…

The Saw Doctors – Songs from Sun Street [ADB]

This album was released in 1998 by Shamtown Records, and it has 15 songs .This band is from Ireland. It is a 5 piece band. Their web page is at http://www.enterprise.net/sawdoctors/. They can be mailed at Una McGrath, 141 Greenland Ave.,Ewing,NJ 08638. This is good rock with fast and slow parts, and goofy parts as well. This is really well-written and composed songs, in an era when garbage is popular…

Satan – Into the Future [ADB]

This album is old and indy. From 1987 on Steamhammer Records. This band is/was British and i have no info about them. The play a dirgey Iron Maiden type metal, and it sounds really good for a record i got for free in a record store down in Athens, Ohio when i was on an in the know trip. The back panel has a picture of the people in the…

Samiam – You are Freaking Me Out [ADB]

This album was released in 1998 on Ignition Records, and it has 13 songs .This band has been around for 9 years, and has been on 7 labels, including Atlantic Records. On this cd they cover a Beatles song (Cry Baby Cry). The band is a Punk/Indy Rock band with decent guitars and bass. They at times sound like Jargon, Mock Orange, The Weakerthans, and Creed. They can be reached…

Saliva – Super Subliminal Enhancer [ADB]

This is Saliva’s 5 song demo, as so many bands are doing nowadays. Copying bands demo song # isn’t all what Saliva does. They sound like every bad alterna-rock band of the last 5 years. Even with all of that, they aren’t as bad as i mean.Their 1st song sounds like Soundgarden and Days of the New. 2nd sounds like Our Lady Peace and I mother earth. 3rd sounds like…

Rahowa – S/T [ADB]

This band is amazing. Just simply fucking amazing. Their music is an amalgamation of Rock, Metal, Thrash, and Goth, and it is never bogged down by crappy music. The whole CD is full of great songs, and i think ill be listening to this cd very often. I can see why this CD has sold so many copies on Resistance Records. Hopefully, these guys are still around and they will…

The Queers – A Day Late and a Dollar Short [ADB]

A discography from 1982 on with 34 tracks, the last one being a live set on college radio. This is on Lookout, and was release sometime after 1995. The album has all their big hits , including “Kicked Out of The Webelos” and “I want Cunt”. There are like 3 repeated songs on the disc. The songs are extremely fast and the lyrics are funny as fuck. When i say…

Plastikman – Sheet One [ADB]

I really like this album, because it is such a trip. No pun intended (The front cover in cut into little blotters, like acid). This band has done its homework on Teutonic Trance Music, taking a cue from Kraftwerk. It also draws heavily from the great beats of hip-hop and mixes them around into an amazing piece of art. This record is on Novamute Records, which is distributed by Tommy Boy…

The Pissants – Nothing Looks Better Everyday [ADB]

1999 on sour records, with 12 songs. 4 piece hc band from Dunkirk NY. Extremely cool audible bass with super fast songs that are fucking perfect to mosh to. all the pieces sound great together with excellent guitars and bass. The drums aren’t half bad either. I haven’t heard something this fast being so good in a long time. These guys kick so much ass its not funny. WNY has…

Pink Turds in Space – The Complete Pink Turds in Space [ADB]

This band is no longer. In fact, it was no longer in 1992. This band was around for at least 6 years, and they were a Irish Punk Band. But when i say punk, i don’t mean the music. These guys sounded like thrash metal. They are really hard, and as per usual metal or punk bands, their songs don’t really last that long. In fact on a CD of…
