Boogie Woogie (DVD)
If ever there were a case of the cast making the movie, Boogie Woogie is it. The story is interesting enough, but it’s the all-star cast, some of indie and mainstream films best, that takes the movie from good to great.

Check it at the top of your screen. Done by Danica, who has paid the cost to be the boss. Thank you. 😀
We have had the chance to review a number of different Square Enix titles in the time since we began working with them, but I know that I still think of the company as one that publishes RPGs. Front Mission Evolved, a title that was developed by Double Helix Games (Silent Hill: Homecoming, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) is the latest game to have the Square Enix stamp of…
The Cleveland Show is further evidence that whenever Seth MacFarlane has a new project out, ey throws all of eir weight into creating the best possible show. Where Family Guy was once the best show, it rapidly turned into American Dad and now is The Cleveland Show. This DVD set showcases everyone’s favorite sidekick – Cleveland Brown, eir son and a host of new characters. These characters range from the…

At this point, if you’ve never seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest or don’t at least have an idea of the premise, you aren’t even reading this review. For everyone else, you only need to know that this massive re-release is a film aficionado’s dream.
It’s been a hell of a long time since I wrote up a show review, so I have to apologize if this is particularly garish. Anyways, Checkers and Trophies is a bar stuck in the middle of residential Kent, and is one of those locations that I have actually never attended before tonight. Learning earlier this week that there was a show at the bar (and a $2 cover at…
“The Highest Highs & The Lowest Lows” truly begins when The Jesus Rehab gets to “If It Feels Good It Is Good”, a track that immediately defies convention. It simply has something for everyone, whether they are fans of Weezer, The New Radicals, or even Eve 6. The Ben Folds-esque piano turns this track into something that would easily be on rock radio, ensuring the band a spot on the…
This is a test of the App review system. If this were to be a real document, you probably wouldn’t be reading it. It would be locked away in my journal somewhere that you couldn’t find it. SimpleNote, a simple text editing App, claimed little. PlainText, does the same. Hog Bay only claims that the App is easy to use, and will sync up to your Drop Box. With a…

Four records into it and American Hi-Fi are still living blissfully in the 90’s. It makes sense, given that front man Stacy Jones played drums for Letters to Cleo and Veruca Salt, two successful 90’s alt rock bands. On Fight the Frequency, the band’s first album in five years, American Hi-Fi plays competent alt rock with plenty of sing-along choruses, crunchy distorted guitars and tight drumming. What’s lacking is simply…

Three seasons into it and The Big Bang Theory is still nowhere close to losing its rep for being one of the most original sitcoms still being churned out by one of the major networks.
Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil is pretty blunt about his reasons for penning his autobiography. It has little to do with setting the record straight, though there is a little of that, and not much to do with settling scores, though his feelings about his fellow band members and managers are pretty clear as well. Neil sees Tattoos & Tequila as simply another way to “build his brand” as his…
HBO’s latest comedy Bored to Death is yet one more example that cable, not network TV, is where you turn for original shows. The series centers on novelist and sometime magazine writer Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman) who, out of boredom and on a whim, puts an ad on the Internet advertising his services as an unlicensed private investigator. The cast is rounded out by his buddy Ray (Zach Galifianakis) and…
Neuronia (www.myspace.com/neuronia), originating from Warsaw, Poland has recently released their second album “Follow The White Mouse” through Fonografika.
Sacred 13 is an act that skillfully blends rock with a much harder and grittier sound, immediately inviting listeners in with “Secrets”. Perhaps most interesting has to be the grind the band gets into during the track and how exactly it interacts with the vocals laid down here. “Lifeless” keeps things interesting, with a little bit of electronic noise inserted into the track. What was a more instrumentally-lead band during…
Until the Light Takes Us is the most comprehensive doc yet on the often misunderstood Black Metal genre. The directors, Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell, moved to Norway and lived among the bands and fans for years to get access to properly tell the story of the scene and its lifestyle. The controversial genre first got media attention in the mid 90’s thanks to a rash of church burnings, suicides…
There are typically a number of reasons why sequels do not live up to the strong efforts put forth by their progenitors. However, Camp Rock 2 is a film that builds off of the original while providing viewers with more than enough in the way of added material and different plot twists and turns. For those individuals that liked the work of Demi Lovato (Mitchie) and Joe Jonas (Shane), they…
Despite constantly being under the shadow of the cancellation axe, Chuck has somehow managed to survive a finicky audience and skittish TV execs thanks to smart writing that has attracted a small, but die hard following of fans and critics.
